After years of sitting with people in psychotherapy, I am continually humbled by how much we all quietly carry. It is magnificent to get to hold space and to support people in shifting things that have been heavy; sharing how it has all felt and finding the way through to a life with more ease and comfort.
Sometimes it shows up as anxiety that won’t settle.
Sometimes as chronic illness that feels invisible to the outside world.
Sometimes as relationship patterns that feel painful or confusing, even when you’re trying so hard to do things differently.
Sometimes its unrealized trauma rooted in needs that went unmet when we were young, and the impact.
Again and again, what I see underneath is a nervous system that has been working very hard for a very long time. A person doing their best to be happier, healthier and to live life with gratitude and abundance.
At my clinic here in Ontario, Soulful Therapy, I now have the privilege of working alongside a team of five interesting and dedicated therapists, and this is the heart of the work we do together. We are all committed to our own healing journeys as we walk alongside our clients in their care.
We support people who are navigating things like:
• anxiety, panic, and chronic stress
• trauma and emotional overwhelm
• chronic pain and chronic illness
• relationship struggles and boundary challenges
Our work is rooted in psychotherapy, nervous system healing, and somatic awareness, healing alongside a compassionate, intuitive and creative guide. Rather than only managing symptoms, we often help people gently listen to what their body and inner system have been holding for years.
Sometimes that means meeting a way we protect ourselves, that has been working overtime and may not be effective any longer.
Sometimes it means helping the nervous system finally feel safe enough to soften.
This work is deeply personal to me, which is part of why I care so much about creating spaces where people can feel safe enough to begin healing.
It’s quiet work.
But it can create really meaningful shifts in people’s lives.
Right now our team does have space for new clients, and we offer both individual and couples therapy for people living in Ontario.
If someone comes to mind as you read this, feel free to share it with them. Sometimes the hardest part is simply finding the right support.
