The Pregnancy HUB is thrilled to announce the addition of four new recorded classes now available on our website!

These recorded classes were made possible thanks to the generous support of our Giving Tuesday donors from December 2024 — and we’re so grateful for their contributions.

Each class is presented by a Registered Dietician and designed to help you feel more confident and informed about nutrition during pregnancy and postpartum. You’ll also learn how to prepare food safely, shop smart, and create easy, affordable meals for your family.

Supporting a person’s choice of birth setting is essential to midwifery care.

In British Columbia, registered midwives support both planned home births and hospital births, within a regulated scope of practice.

Midwives work with each client to plan the setting that is both safest and most comfortable for their individual circumstances.

For some families, the ability to plan a home birth is a key reason they choose midwifery care. Others choose midwifery care for a hospital birth and ongoing support.

When a home birth is planned, midwives arrive with the clinical supplies needed to safely support labour at home. This includes essential birth supplies, medications, and sterile equipment.

Midwifery care is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to respectful, comprehensive maternity care, regardless of their circumstances.

Did you know that perinatal mental health disorders are among the most common conditions during and after pregnancy? Among the many challenges that pregnant individuals face physically, mental health disorders such as depression can also affect daily functioning and overall quality of life. Recognizing the signs early in yourself or your pregnant partner and seeking support is essential for a healthy pregnancy and postpartum experience.

During Perinatal Depression Awareness Month, the SOGC is encouraging greater awareness and understanding of the mental health challenges that can arise during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
