Return To Spirit Wellness Quieting the chaos of modern day life to listen to the whispers of our authentic self, our Spirit 💖 My name is Jessica Joughin.

I am a grateful mother to 3 amazing kids and a lover of the outdoors and travel. I spend as much of my free time as possible exploring and adventuring in Nature. As a teen and young adult, I struggled with debilitating depression and to escape the horrific thoughts in my mind I would seek out nature to feel love and connection. I grew up in North Vancouver and developed a love of hiking, trail running, swimming and winters enjoying the snow up the mountains. I felt at ease in nature and being at the ocean was also very soothing for me. I have always loved camping and being in remote areas away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I have experienced the mental wellness benefits that the outdoors provides first hand and I attribute my mindset transformation and a majority of my healing to my daily commitment to my self-love practices. I have a background in support work and have worked in various roles including mental health, addiction, pre/post natal education, youth advocacy and housing support, personal support care and education for physical and developmental disabilities and more recently I have been coaching 1 on 1 and co-facilitating group support sessions. I started Return to Spirit Wellness to be able to share my love of Mother Nature and its mental, physical and spiritual benefits through various workshops and events in the online space and in my community on Vancouver Island. Return to Spirit Wellness is all about escaping the crazy frenetic pace of the modern world and getting grounded and present in nature to create a deep connection with self. My goal is to educate more people on the powerful natural benefits of creating a daily practice of connection to nature. The workshops and events will focus on ways to enhance our connection with the earth and create stillness to cultivate more calm, peace and fulfillment in our lives. Mother nature truly does heal and I look forward to sharing my love of the earth with you soon.

Starting the day in nature is a powerful way to connect to the feelings of joy and peace.
Did you know that walking in a forest is scientifically proven to lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels. The denser the canopy above the more benefit. So next time you are out walking in the trees 🌳 connect with your body and notice what's happening. Take your shoes off and you can get even more benefits by grounding at the same time. This past week I was challenged with an injury to heal. When our body is in pain it's amazing how we lose all our holistic coping skills and get very caught up in the pain of the experience. After a few days away from my routine and immersed in the pain I decided to get back out into nature and ground my energy and get into the ocean to soothe the inflammation. I then chose to surround myself by loving people and loving energy from others and from myself And almost magically within 24 hours the pain and injury had healed completely! Mother nature truly does heal if you give yourself the time To soak it all in.
