In observance of Remembrance Day, our office is closed as it is a statutory holiday.

This day is close to our hearts, as we've had the deep privilege of providing care to veterans here on the Island. We honour their service and sacrifice, and we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect and remember those who fought for our freedom.

We will reopen tomorrow, ready to continue serving our wonderful community.

The temperatures are dropping, and that means more cozy time indoors. For many of us, that also means diving into video games.

Did you know: Prolonged exposure to loud sound can cause permanent damage, especially when using headphones or earbuds.

Here are some easy tips to help protect your hearing:

1. Turn the volume down. Aim for 50% or lower, especially with headphones. 🎧

2. Use noise-canceling headphones. They help block out background noise so you don’t have to crank the volume.

3. Take listening breaks. Step away from the sound every hour for at least a few minutes.

4. Pay attention to your body. If you notice ringing, pain, or difficulty hearing, book a hearing test.

5. Watch your overall noise exposure. Gaming might just be one of many loud activities in your day. Keep an eye on the total time you're in noisy environments.

Protect your ears now so you can keep enjoying what you love later.

Know a gamer who could use these tips? Feel free to share this post with them - it’s a small way to help protect their hearing for the future.

Did you know? Statistics Canada reports that 3 out of 5 adults are living with hearing loss, and many between the ages of 40 - 79 aren't aware of it, but are faced with the daily challenges that come along with hearing loss.

Are you, or a loved one, showing signs of hearing loss? Ask yourself these questions:

🔹 Do you experience difficulty hearing other people clearly and misunderstanding what they say, especially in noisy places?
🔹 Do you find yourself asking people to repeat themselves?
🔹 Do others tell you that the TV volume is too loud?
🔹 Do you experience difficulty hearing on the phone?
🔹 Do you find it challenging to keep up with conversations?
🔹 Do you experience feeling tired or stressed from having to concentrate while listening?

If you answered yes to these questions, you may have hearing loss. Hearing loss can affect you emotionally, isocially, and can cause safety concerns - but we're here to help.

Learn more by contacting us today and schedule your free at-home hearing test.

Holiday gatherings can get noisy, and for those with hearing loss (even mild hearing loss), it can be tough to keep up with conversations.

Here are a few simple ways to make communication easier for everyone at the table.

1. Get their attention before you start speaking
2. Face them directly so they can see your lips and expressions
3. Turn down background noise when possible
4. Speak clearly and at a natural pace
5. Be patient, it takes effort to fill in the gaps

Small changes like these can make a big difference in helping everyone feel included. Share this post so your friends and family can use these tips, too!

If someone you love is still finding it hard to follow conversations, Ears To You can help with free at-home hearing tests - contact us today!

Today, our office is closed in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It’s a day to reflect, learn, and honour the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned home.

We encourage everyone to take time today to listen, learn, and acknowledge the importance of reconciliation in our communities.
