Meet Della!

“When we are thinking about starting therapy, we don’t always know what we want, we just know we want change and are curious about our own potential. My approach supports this curiosity and allows us to come together to clarify your goals and navigate how we get there.

My hope is that through our work, you gain deeper self-understanding, confidence in managing distress, and/or align your life more closely with your values. This might include gaining insight into your emotions, strengthening relationships, or letting go of patterns that no longer serve you.

I am a registered social worker with over 12 years of experience in mental health, eating disorders, substance use, trauma, grief and loss. I also recognize my culture and identities may differ from those of my clients, and I strive to create safety through open dialogue about difference, values, and accessibility needs. I am very happy to be working alongside the team at Island Clinical Counselling, and welcome any opportunity to connect to see if we are a good fit.”

Della works in Downtown Nanaimo Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Meet Dr. Cindi Saj

“Having overcome many personal challenges, including learning to live and thrive being neurodivergent, I’m passionate about helping people find the best version of them self, and creating a better world for as many individuals and families as I can. I work with everyone from a person-centered approach meaning that I believe everyone is the expert of their self and are collaborative in the healing process. I am highlight trained in many theoretical orientations and healing modalities and I am able to offer clients the best practices from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also trained and certified to offer treatment with Internal Family Systems (IFS), Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy (IFOT), Clinical Hypnotherapy and Somatic therapy for Trauma Recovery. I am trained to work with children 3 and up, youth, and adults online or in-person in Nanaimo, BC.

When I’m not working, I’m likely traveling, spinning or cycling, doing yoga, learning new therapy modalities, listening to a podcast, or catching up on sleep (seriously I could talk for hours as to how much I love sleep!). I’m a cisgender female and hold a neurodivergent-friendly and an LGBTQIA2S+ positive space, bringing positivity and gratitude to every client I work with.” - Cindi

Meet Pam!

“Hi. I’m Pam (she/her) and I’m grateful to be able to work in the traditional territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth people, specifically the southern region of the Tseshaht, Hupacasath, Uchucklesaht, Huu-ay-aht and Ditidaht First Nations. I am an art therapist, artist, and facilitator, who believes in the power of creativity in the healing process. When we look at our art with a sense of curiosity, it can surprise and deepen us. I have a love of learning with a special interest in writing, pottery and storytelling.

I believe in our connection to things outside of ourselves, specifically nature, animals, and human community. We do not heal alone but in relation to one another.

I have a strengths-based client centered approach that is trauma-informed. I work with children, youth, individual adults, parent/child dyads, families and groups. I have experience bringing art therapy to groups of children, youth, parents, teachers, emergency service workers, adults with diverse abilities in day programs and mental health stabilization units, and care homes.”
