Pelvic Health and Paediatric Physiotherapist

Today marks the end of an Era! I started my career in paediatrics at the Nanaimo Child Development centre and today I walk out the door for the last time as an employee.
Most of you know me under my pelvic health umbrella but most of my time is actually spent working with kiddos from birth to 18 on all of their gross motor, developmental and physical needs.
I have absolutely LOVED my time at the NCDC, getting to support families in different capacities.

While I am leaving this position, there are big changes on the horizon! I will still be offering paediatrics privately 🤍

Looking forward to continuing to offer support.

Today was a day filled with grief, love, community and some more love 🤍

Today was the in Nanaimo ()

Today we held space and built community for all those experiencing infertility, pregnancy and infant loss 🦋

Today I held my daughter, Lily, even closer in my heart and wished so deeply our story was different.

I am honoured to be the Chair for the Vancouver Island Butterfly Run and help in whatever capacity I can to end the stigma and remember our babies.

We had a ton local vendors out to support our community too including

And so many more! I encourage you to support these company’s that hold space for myself and other families experiencing loss.

🍂 September comes with a lot of change and busy schedules 🏃‍♀️

For me, it means being back in the classroom! Did you know I also work as a sessional instructor at VIU in the Kinesiology department?

Knowledge translation is one of my favourite roles as a physiotherapist and helping guide other health care providers (or aspiring ones) just lights me up!

✨ HAPPY NEW YEAR ✨

A new year often symbolizes a fresh start, new opportunities and new adventures!

A few highlights for my year to come:

📝 Teaching basic Pelvic Health to Physicians at the BC Rural Physicians Conference

👩🏻‍💼Providing perinatal Pelvic Health care (at no cost to the individual) in the North Island with

💻 Working on producing more research

🤞🏼 Hopefully gaining my CSCS Certificate!

Meditation can take many forms 🧘🏽‍♀️

Here are three options to start your journey!

1️⃣ Box Breathing: inhale through your nose for a court of 4 seconds. Hold for 4. Exhale for 4. Hold for 4. Repeat.

2️⃣ Sitting in a quiet place, comfortable position repeating a mantra to yourself. I like to use “I am breathing in, I am breathing out”. Repeat for a few minutes, or even just a few breaths!

3️⃣ Guided meditation: there are many apps including
• curable
• Calm
• headspace
• insight timer
