What makes a truly special seniors community?

For one family, it was knowing their mom spent 10 wonderful years at Lakeside Gardens years filled with care, connection, and a place she genuinely loved to call home.

"My Mom, Phyliss Haigh lived at Lakeside Gardens for over ten years. After her Alzheimer’s progressed, Mom moved to Longterm care. She passed 2 years ago.
I wrote a story about an event my Mom and I shared while she was living at Lakeside Gardens. That story is now in the new Chicken Soup for the Soul book that just came out. We both loved everyone at Lakeside Gardens.
The book is titled Chicken Soup for the Soul Navigating Eldercare and Dementia."

A good seniors community isn’t just about services, it’s about creating a home where residents feel valued, supported, and connected for years to come.

Today we celebrated Easter with a fun Egg Rolling contest, marshmallow dying and our annual Easter Tea. Thank you to all the residents for coming out and joining the festivities. It was lovely to see everyone wearing their Easter Bonnets and Facinators that we made in crafts.

We really enjoyed our spring walk at Neck Point last week. The sea lions were lounging on the rocks way above the water line. I wonder if they have to wait for the tide to come back in so they can get off those jagged rocks?

Spring is just around the corner, and we’re celebrating with a group walk at Neck Point on Monday, March 23 at 1:15pm. Residents are invited to enjoy fresh air, coastal views, and the beauty of the season as it begins.

Be sure to sign up at the front desk the week before. Last year, we were lucky enough to witness the herring spawn and its stunning turquoise waters; a reminder of just how special our surroundings truly are.

Moments like these are what vibrant living is all about.

We had a splendid turn out for our Irish themed Green Party on Friday the 13th. Chef made Irish apple fritters to serve along side our Irish Coffee's. What a treat!
We have just retuned from the Nanaimo Casino with multiple winners! One man won $307 with his free credits from the pub.

"Wherever you go and whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you."

This past weekend we had the honor of welcoming The Nanaimo Chinese Cultural Society 纳奈莫华人文化联谊会 for a wonderful dance performance here at Lakeside Gardens. The performers were dressed in beautiful costumes and did an amazing job. Thank you to Vivian Ross and the Nanaimo Chinese Cultural Society 纳奈莫华人文化联谊会, we look forward to future performances.
