A transformational announcement for women’s health in British Columbia.
As announced today by Josie Osborne, Minister of Health, the Province of British Columbia is expanding public drug coverage to include full coverage of menopausal hormone therapy, a critical step in reducing symptoms and improving quality of life for people experiencing menopause.
Beginning March 1, the provincial plan will provide coverage for eligible menopausal hormone therapy, with an estimated 160,000 people expected to benefit across the province.

“Menopausal hormone therapy is an effective treatment to reduce menopausal symptoms and improve quality of life for people experiencing menopause. We recently marked one year since opening the Complex Menopause Clinic at B.C. Women’s and hear first-hand how this treatment can be transformative. This announcement, which has been informed by significant research and advocacy for women’s health, paves the way for policy decisions to improve health care at both provincial and national levels.”
