With all of the angst out in the world right now, most of us can use some help to lower the amount of stress and anxiety we’re experiencing, and learn some quick and simple tools for self-regulation and grounding... especially true for those of us that are typically more sensitive (including ME)!

Finish this sentence, friends…
“If I’d allowed fear to rule my life, I would never have _____________!”

I want to tell a bit from my past, and with transparency…

I was a sensitive, shy, nervous, scared kid who was a nail biter, a quiet watcher, an insecure child that stayed quiet and in the background of events and situations quite a lot… and for good reasons too. (Perhaps I will share more in another post).

Bullies were attracted to me. They chased me home from school every day and made my adolescent years pure torture. Tough ballet teachers scared the heck out of me! Anxiety got the better of me daily, symptoms showing up everywhere… my skin, boils, nervous stomach, etc.

Get this… heightened stress and anxiety even caused a 1” in diameter VISIBLE bald spot on my head! I was a fearful mess in high school!

But I came into personal growth in my early 20’s and never looked back. I found tools and practices to shake off stress and anxiety. Healthy exercise (rather than disciplined ballet and starving myself) became a daily gift, plus clean food, and self-compassion too.

Now, that is NOT to say I no longer felt fear. Despite fear, I stepped wholeheartedly into my helping profession and my growth served as experience to offer my clients.

It is when I began to embrace fear as “opportunities” to try myself on in new ways, stretch my threshold of experiences and experiment with COMING THROUGH fear… into successes!

On the other side of fear can come the greatest feelings of triumph and self-satisfaction!

On the other side of fear can come meeting new and wonderful people and mentors!

On the other side of fear can come stepping into fulfilling bucketlist experiences!

Soooooooo, here’s how I will finish the sentence I asked you earlier…

“If I had allowed fear to rule my life, I never would have gone to college for two years of advanced training and attain my Registered Professional Counsellor and Certified Life Coach designations… let alone at 57 years old!!!

Am I proud? Absolutely!

Did it bust fear wide open? Absolutely, and it was THEE GREATEST GIFT I have ever given myself!

Here’s my next question of you…
“What calls out to you at this time of your life, and even if you’re afraid?”
