New process for patients to register for second dose after receiving vaccine at pharmacy
On Tuesday, Apr. 27, the B.C. Ministry of Health informed the BC Pharmacy Association that, starting May 1, patients who received their COVID-19 vaccine at a pharmacy must register for their second doses at https://www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca/.
The Ministry is collecting this information in order to ensure communities receive the right amount of vaccines.
Once patients are eligible to book their second dose, they will receive a notification by email, text message or phone call. It is important to note that people who received their first dose in pharmacies will need to register in order to get their second dose.
You can find more information on the government website at:
https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/register .
This process is to take effect starting May 1.
As the Ministry releases more information after May 1, the Association will provide additional updates to answer questions including the expected schedule of when second doses will be delivered in pharmacies, and how the Ministry’s registration process will impact pharmacy appointment booking.
Getting vaccinated is easy and safe. Register, get invited to book an appointment, then get the vaccine.
