The Roost Recovery and Sober Living

The Roost Recovery and Sober Living The Roost is a quality residence providing support and community for men and women taking the next steps on their recovery journey. What else…?

Hi there I'm Kelly, proprietor of The Roost! I have a Bachelor of Social Work from UBC and a Master's Degree in Transpersonal Psychology (specializing in spiritual psychology) from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. I have a genuine enthusiasm for the work I do and bring a rich balance of personal, professional and educational experience. My unique education offers a fresh perspective and keen insights into the difficulties of being human. The transpersonal view explores struggles from a whole person perspective noting physical, mental, spiritual, emotional and creative capacities and imbalances. Each person is viewed in terms of potential not pathology. I've been helping people navigate difficult life transitions for over 15 years. Prior to The Roost, I worked at Transition Houses, Family Service Agencies, Alternative and Mainstream schools. I also offer private counselling, transpersonal guidance and dreamwork. I am a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers which allows me to use the designation Registered Social Worker (RSW). This regulatory body ensures I practice within a strict code of ethical guidelines and requires 40 hours of professional development a year. When it comes to the rest of my life, you can usually find me in some state of sustainable food production! That could be planting seeds, growing food, harvesting, preserving, seed saving or planning how to do it differently next year! I'm a mother of four grown sons. I love coffee,
Running
And dancing in my living room.

...and I'm Chris. Together with Kelly and along my own journey of 12-step recovery, I have a passion for leading and teaching men and women to walk with dignity and integrity in their recovery.

When recovering addicts leave the safety of residential treatment it is not uncommon for their progress to unravel. My great passion is to help people discover the truth about themselves, the single most exciting aspect of my own healing journey.

I want to provide a safe place for you to continue your journey to wholeness and health.

I believe in personal responsibility and that anyone can recover from addiction and compulsive behaviour. I have over 15 years of experience working in the addictions field, in private practice, non-profit agencies, provincial health authority, and public and private residential treatment centres. I have extensive training as a therapist and am a Registered Member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (RCC).

I feel confident that the sum total of my experience as a helping professional, a husband, a father, and a man in long-term recovery will benefit you and your stay with Kelly and I at The Roost.
