We are deeply saddened but honored to have been privileged to care for our beautiful resident, Doris.
To us, she was, and always will be family.
Thank you for our time together, we miss you.
As one staff said, Doris gave her the first smile she received when she came to our home. With permission from family we are sharing this.

Doris Louise Creighton Obituary
Doris was the daughter of Ed & Emma Lindeman. She was raised on a farm in the Elnora/Trochu area during the Great Depression and later WWII. She understood the value of hard work and what it was to have very little. Being the eldest daughter, she worked hard on the farm. As a result of this upbringing, she never desired for the newest or the best, as these were of no importance to her - faith, family, security, and community were her guiding principles along with her compassion for others and the less fortunate.
Mom left the farm to find her way in Calgary. She was a live-in caregiver while she took hairdressing. Sister Iris soon followed, and together they moved to Nanton and worked as hairdressers until they both married.
Dad (James Forbes Creighton) and Mom married in 1949. After Dad completed his service in the Air Force and graduated from the U of A, they returned to Nanton, moving into the house where Dad was born, to operate Creightonâs Pharmacy until their retirement. Mom took to heart the responsibility of preserving the 1917 house.
Other than her love of work, you could find Mom on the golf course or at the curling rink. She was committed to maintaining her health through exercise and good nutrition, which served her well to the end. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, where traditional holidays and Nanton Parade Days were always honored with a meal, as family was everything to her. Other interests include music/piano, gardening, reading, business, travel, fishing, and camping.
Lifeâs enrichment came from family, community, friends and neighbors and her United Church family.
The final leg of Momâs journey was at Madison Manor, where she was provided dignified, compassionate care. She also had a deep connection with her companion. With her undeniable will to live and capacity to love, Mom was loved by many in return.
Mom is survived by:
Son Barry (Pam) Creighton and their children; Matthew (Ines) Creighton & children Maria & Jonas, Kathryn (Trent) Vassallo & children Carter, Liam & Jesse, Benjamin Creighton, Carolyn Creighton & children Levi & Caleb.
Daughter Laurie (Evan) Berger and their children; Talia (Tyler) Kowalchuk & children Tenley & Tate, Brita Berger (Richie Hubbell), Joel (Chenelle) Berger and Charlie.
Sister-in-law Margie (Mel) Lindeman, niece on the Creighton side Ann (Michael) Dyer & son, along with numerous nieces and nephews on the Lindeman side.

Her husband James in 2015, her parents Ed & Emma Lindeman, brothers Mel and Clarence Lindeman, sister Iris and brother-in-law Allen Short.
