This isn’t a “light at the end of the tunnel” post. This is a - “things happen, growth and mess can occur simultaneously and the work is rarely over” post.

In the last 24h we have seen snowfall greater than we have in a long time. It has been messy. It has required a lot of changing of plans. Chaos likely doesn’t begin to describe it.

And then you look out your window and see this picturesque landscape with snow covered trees and the sun shining through. The mess is still there. The shovelling still needs to be done. The shifts still need to be filled. And yet all of these things can coexist.

The point is this: that while all storms end, the recovery doesn’t and this process comes with both chaos and beauty/peace.

Isn’t it cool what we can learn from Mother Nature ?

Hosted by Globe Health Reporter André Picard, the event will examine the intersection of type 2 diabetes, financial health, and mental wellness and will offer expert perspectives and tangible approaches to help manage the realities of this condition.

Last week we welcomed two new intern Psychotherapists to our team! Please join us in welcoming Molly and Hannah!

Molly Smith is in the final stages of completing her Masters in Counselling Psychology. Molly has a degree in Behavioral Psychology and comes to us with 5+ years experience working at Resolve Counselling. Molly is trained in several different therapies and embraces a person centered approach, and uses blended approaches to ensure your therapy is meeting your needs.

Hannah Aikman will be completing her final practicum in her Master's of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. Hannah has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Ottawa and has been working as a Supervised Behavioural Therapist at Stride Academy. Hannah is collaborative, compassionate, and client-centred, and wants to provide an evidence-based treatment approach to address your individual needs, with the goal of building personal insights, coping strategies, and overall self-compassion. There has been so much to reflect on in 2025. For all of us at NapPsych, there is a laundry list of things we’re proud of, things we would do different next time and everything in between.

Today, we’re thinking about what we really want to bring into 2026.

It’s not always about more, despite what we’ve highlighted in our first 9 slides - although more of all of these things does get us going!

Sometimes it’s less, or simply being consistent, sometimes it’s laughing at the things that are hard to change (like our proof reading) or learning from the things we don’t want to change.

It’s been a busy year for us here at NapPsych and we are taking some time to recharge between now and January 2. Each therapist has their own holiday schedule and it is best to check in with your individual therapist for those details.

We will still be responding to inquiries in our NapPsych inbox but response times may be slower. We remain dedicated to getting you in to see us in the new year!

✨ WELCOME ✨

We are pleased to share that Alex, Kaitlyn and Olivia, whom recently completed their internships with us, have officially joined our team! Our internship program hires professionals with previous work experience in the field of mental health and whom have trauma training.

✨ Alexandra McCarrol excels in integrative approaches including emotion focused work, attachment focused work and cognitive therapies aimed to support you with behaviour changes, grief, emotion regulation, trauma, living with neurodiversity and life stressors. Alex has availability virtually, during the day and some evenings as well!

✨ Kaitlyn focuses on trauma, stress and burnout, emotion regulation, self-esteem, and life changes, helping clients uncover the tools to move forward with clarity and confidence. Kaitlyn has daytime and evening availability both in-person and virtually.

✨ Olivia provides individualized support for anxiety and stress, emotion regulation, living with ADHD, life transitions, and behavioural change. Olivia offers in-person and virtual sessions, with daytime, evening, and weekend availability.

We have been quiet on here as we continue to work hard behind the scenes for exciting things to come in 2026.

Today, we are THRIlLLED to announce we will be joining .edithq wellness centre for all things total wellness.

Picture this:
A second location for NapPsych, opportunities for more integrative and collaborative care and a move to what we have always stood for in mental health care: it’s so much more than just the mind.

We are so excited to see what this space brings to our community and we cannot wait to see you there!

This time of year can bring on many stressors. One of the most common stressors that show up in our office this time of year? Value gaps - mostly related to finances, gift giving and traditions.

Whether it’s gifting, making plans for celebrations or the money that you’re spending, ask yourself these two questions - this requires a level of radical honesty that can be u comfortable - AND - it may direct you toward a holiday season that aligns more with your value system. When we feel more aligned, our nervous system regulates.

Last week we did an “unfortunately we do love…” reel. Videos did not crack that list 🤣 however, this is one you’ll want the sound on for. Two things can be true right?

Listen through for why it is important to discuss difficult things. When we speak it out loud, we’re creating space from the experience, which opens the door to respond differently.

When all else fails let the air out of the balloon.
