Coming up this Sunday ... Nelson Hospice is once again co-sponsoring the Remember the Dead Event from 4-6 pm at the Nelson Memorial Park (cemetery). With the 5 Gates of Grief, each curated with an art installation, the ever-popular mailbox to the beyond and various other installations and performances from Corazon ... and even Can Can dancers!

We're looking forward to receiving you all at our Hospice tent for information about our services, impromptu grief support and hot cider. Bring your own luminary to place on the path and remember your dead.

A special shout out today to thank our title sponsor for Workathon for the last 10 years ... Nelson & District Credit Union. They have led the way to many other businesses sponsoring this event over the years, and especially in the teamwork required to make an event like this successful, consisting fielding the biggest teams on our Workathon day. They are pros when it comes to connections to the community at large and it shows in their employees' response to coming out on Workathon day.

Thanks NDCU!

Soooo many leaves fell overnight just in time for our Workathon clean up event tomorrow!

IT'S NOT TOO LATE to register as a workathon client and have your yard clean up completed by one of our wonderful workathon volunteer teams.

This event helps serve seniors or any one who cannot do their own yard work on this one day of the year. So, if you need help, call us at 250-352-2337 or email us at info@nelsonhospice.org.

Leave us your name, your address, your phone number and what you want done (leaf raking, mulching, weeding, etc.). Note that we can DEFINITELY take away your leaves but we cannot take away any yard waste that doesn't fit into our leaf bags.

On this day of Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the profound grief experienced by all indigenous peoples who came before us … who have called this land their home for thousands of years.

We will gladly walk alongside anyone experiencing the fallout from the truths of what happened on this land. Here is one way to learn about this path of grief.

Our hospice volunteers often are called to spend time at the bedside of those who are in their last days of life, giving respite to family and friends who do not have the stamina to be at the bedside 24/7 for days on end.

The relief and comfort experienced by these families and friends is powerful ... as testified to by this recent note from a client:

"Thank you so much Don for all of the light and love and comfort that you provided to [client] and I. I will be eternally thankful and grateful. To b able to share mine and [client]'s story, the good and bad and feeling your compassion was a true gift to me."
