Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association responds to life-threatening incidents

07/22/2021

As part of Special Operations Accreditation, our EMS physician has to undergo quarterly Critical Skills Training. We would like our community to meet Jason Lin - our Clinical Consultant and Educator. He is a registered nurse with 20+ years of flight nursing experience working prehospital in remote settings throughout the American Southwest, Alaska, Puerto Rico and Antarctica. His nursing career began in Trail, BC after graduating from Selkirk College. Later, combining a love of flying with his desire to care for critically ill patients, Jason became board-certified in emergency, critical care and flight nursing and he holds a fellowship in wilderness medicine.

For over a decade Jason was the Chief Flight Nurse of a large multistate air ambulance company advocating for safety and excellence in care.

Jason is a clinical consultant and educator with KERPA supporting proficiency maintenance of clinical skills and the meeting of special operations accreditation standards. He has been working with KERPA since April 2019.

"I can honesty say that every-time I train with Jason I learn something new. On numerous occasions the critical skills training we have just done gets used in real life critical 911 calls. These are the hardest pre-hospital calls I have attended and training with Jason has helped me at some of the toughest challenges I have had responding. I have the utmost respect for Jason and his commitment to education and his heart to save lives. On behalf of the board, Thank you Jason." Dr. Nic.

KERPA opens this training up for other agencies and physicians in the community. If you are a physician or emergency service provider and want to join our critical skills training please contact our office.
