Happy holidays and a big, heartfelt congratulations to all the couples I had the honour of co-creating their ceremony this year. What an absolute joy it’s been to tell your love stories and witness your vows.

2026 is already shaping up to be another beautiful year of celebrating love and commitment - there are so many places your stories can take us, from intimate elopements in the Kootenays to full aisle-walking, family-dog-ringer-bearer moments.

As a celebrant there’s truly nothing like watching a ceremony of intention and commitment come alive in real time; those quiet, sacred, and sometimes wildly fun moments feel a little bit like magic every single time. Being invited into those threshold moments is a privilege, and I’m really looking forward to 2026.

Each morning last week, I found solace on a quiet rural road near my mother-in-law’s long term care home, where my husband and I had been staying as she receives hospice care.

Oh my, JOHN O'DONOHUE - simply exquisite! 🥹

It is utterly astonishing how the force and fiber of each day unravel into the vacant air of yesterday. You look behind you and you see nothing of your days here. Our vanished days increase our experience of absence. Yet our past does not deconstruct as if it never was. Memory is the place where our vanished days secretly gather. Memory rescues experience from total disappearance. The kingdom of memory is full of the ruins of presence. It is astonishing how faithful experience actually is; how it never vanishes completely. Experience leaves deep traces in us. It is surprising that years after something has happened to you the needle of thought can hit some groove in the mind and the music of a long vanished event can rise in your soul as fresh and vital as the evening it happened.
