With the support of the Timiskaming Ontario Health Team / Équipe Santé Ontario Timiskaming, the Great Northern Family Health Team has introduced a cutting-edge AI Scribe solution – Tali!

Tali helps streamline the transcription of medical notes during appointments, making documentation faster and more efficient. That means more time for what matters most – direct patient care.

We're proud to be embracing innovation to improve the care experience for our patients and providers alike!

With support from the Timiskaming Ontario Health Team, local providers are using AI Scribe - a digital tool that uses speech-to-text and artificial intelligence to create clinical notes from conversations during patient visits. 📝

Local provider, Dr. Stacy Desilets, shared their experience:

"I’ve never been great at typing notes while talking to patients, so my day involved jotting down quick notes during the patient visit and then spending hours at the end of the day documenting. Since using AI Scribe, that’s completely changed. Editing notes now takes me less than a minute per note, giving me more time in my day. This allows me to offer same-day or next-day appointments I couldn’t have fit in before. I find that the scribe often captures details that can be missed when relying on memory to complete a note at the end of a day. I now feel confident that everything discussed in the visit is documented accurately."

"...It even handles French-English translation well. I often switch between languages during appointments, and the accuracy has been excellent. AI Scribe has truly made my workday less stressful and more efficient.”

By saving time on note taking, AI Scribe helps providers focus more on what matters most - caring for patients; it’s just one example of how the OHT is working with local clinicians to bring innovative tools into patient care.

🚨 Air Quality Alert – Kirkland Lake, Temiskaming Shores, Temagami 🚨

A Special Air Quality Statement has been issued for our region due to smoke from northern Ontario wildfires

🌫️ Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility.
🕐 Conditions will persist through tonight and possibly into Monday.

How to protect your lungs from wildfire smoke, visit: lung.ca/air-quality/wildfires

Issued at 2025-07-13 14:53 UTC by Environment Canada, the Province of Ontario:
𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿: 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 - 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 - 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗶, 𝗢𝗻𝘁.
Current details: Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility.

Westerly winds will bring smoke from forest fires over northern Ontario to the area, causing the air quality to deteriorate.

The poor air quality will persist through tonight and possibly Monday before improving.

As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

When indoors, keep windows and doors closed as much as possible. When there is an extreme heat event occurring with poor air quality, prioritize keeping cool.

Protect your indoor air from wildfire smoke. Actions can include using a clean, good quality air filter in your ventilation system and/or a certified portable air cleaner that can filter fine particles.

If you must spend time outdoors, a well-constructed, well-fitting and properly worn respirator type mask (such as a NIOSH-certified N95 or equivalent respirator) can reduce your exposure to the fine particles in the smoke. Even though exposure may be reduced, there can still be risks to health.

Check in on others who are in your care or live nearby who may be more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution.

Always follow guidance from local authorities.

𝗘𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 : 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 - 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁
