About Me
I’m Steven Beaton, and I’ve spent 42 years working as a paramedic in Northern Ontario. I began my career in North Bay, but the Timiskaming District became my professional home for most of those years. My wife and I have lived and raised our four children in the New Liskeard area, and the community has shaped both my family life and my career.
My work as a paramedic took me into homes, onto highways, and deep into industrial and mining environments — places where calm, practical skills can make all the difference. Those experiences taught me the value of preparation, teamwork, and steady hands. Over the years, I became increasingly involved in EMS education and quality assurance, serving as a Base Hospital Coordinator, Regional Instructor-Trainer, Ministry of Health EMS Inspector, and providing service‑level training locally. For the final seven years of my career, I served as a Deputy Chief of EMS, supporting paramedics and helping guide the system I’d grown up in.
Teaching first aid has been a constant thread through all of it. I started instructing early in my career, and it quickly became one of the most meaningful parts of my work — a way to share real‑world knowledge with people who want to be ready to help. Since retiring in 2024, I’ve continued providing first aid training in the community and beyond, carrying forward the same practical, grounded approach that has guided me from the beginning.
