We’re so grateful for the friendly faces that keep our clinic running smoothly every day. Have you met Adele, our very own “Wonder Woman” at the front desk?

Alongside Davis and the rest of our amazing administrative team, she helps make sure everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly — from booking appointments to welcoming patients with a smile.

We truly couldn’t do it without them. 💛

RCP physiotherapist Simrat is back after an incredible adventure through Ireland and the Netherlands!

Her travels took her biking through the charming streets of Amsterdam and across the island of Inis Mór, road-tripping through Ireland’s scenic countryside, exploring countless beautiful landmarks, and hiking up to the breathtaking Cliffs of Dún Aonghasa.

We’re so happy to have her back, refreshed and ready to help her patients again. 🏃‍♀️You can book your next appointment with Simrat online or by contacting the clinic at 604-553-1203.

RCP owner and senior physiotherapist, Karen, just returned from an incredible holiday in Italy 🚴‍♀️🇮🇹

She spent her days biking through the beautiful Riccione region, enjoying plenty of good wine, great cheese, and amazing company! Karen joined the Human Powered Racing crew from Victoria for the adventure — and had an absolute blast exploring Italy on two wheels.

We’re so glad to have her back, refreshed, and ready to get her patients moving again 💪

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools and the ongoing impacts felt by Indigenous peoples across Canada. This day calls us to honour the truths of survivors, families, and communities, and to recognize the importance of continued reconciliation.

At Royal City Physio, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and acknowledge the responsibility we all share in learning, listening, and supporting healing. We encourage everyone to engage with Indigenous voices, reflect on the history, and take meaningful steps toward reconciliation 🧡.

What is Needling? 🤔

Needling therapies like Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) and Dry Needling (DN) both use fine needles to relieve muscle pain and tightness, but they work differently:

Dry Needling: Targets trigger points—tight bands of muscle causing pain and restricted movement. It helps relax muscles, reduce pain, and boost blood flow.

IMS: Designed for pain linked to nerve dysfunction, IMS addresses both painful muscles and the nervous system. Needles are often placed near the spine to reset nerve activity and alleviate discomfort.

Benefits of Both Techniques:
✅ Reduce pain
✅ Relax tight muscles
✅ Improve blood flow
✅ Enhance movement patterns

These methods offer a “window of change” where muscles can be recruited more effectively but are most effective when paired with physiotherapy exercises to reinforce long-term improvements.

Our Royal City Physio team recently got together for an in-house inservice on Shockwave Therapy—collaborating and sharpening our skills to make sure our patients get the best outcomes.

Shockwave Therapy can be helpful for stubborn tendon and soft tissue injuries like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, and tendonitis. It works by sending targeted sound waves into the tissue to increase blood flow and support the body’s natural healing.

With our new shockwave head, treatments are now more comfortable for patients, and having an open concept space at the clinic makes these collaborative learning moments easy for our team!

Karen got out for the Cortofondo on July 13 and made the most of a sunny day on two wheels 🚴‍♀️

A good ride, some solid views, and a reminder that movement can feel pretty great outside the clinic too.

Way to go, Karen!

Keeping up with our Physiotherapists 🌎

Jamie Handfield recently got back from an incredible trip through Vietnam and Japan. She scootered her way across northern Vietnam, visited stunning temples, and ate her way through some seriously good food.

After that, she spent time exploring Japan before heading home. An epic adventure and well-earned break! 🛵🍜⛩️

We love how dedicated our physiotherapists are—not just in the clinic, but in pursuing their passions outside of work too. That balance is what makes them well-rounded, empathetic, and truly great at supporting our patients.
