The Purpose Society offers over 16 programs that provide a continuum of services to children, youth and families. They range from family development and therapy to Early Childhood education and groups. There’s a program for you and your family, that enables you to find support within the community.
Purpose Family Programs offers fun, interactive groups for parents/caregivers and children from birth to 5 years of age. Enjoy stories, songs, and games with other parents and children.
This program focuses on parent and child interaction decreasing social isolation and increasing community connection. The group runs 3 times a year, each one lasting for 12 weeks. For pregnant women and families with children under 36 months and their caregivers. This service is for residents living in New Westminster and Burnaby.
Family Circle (Ages 3-5)
Explore the rich variety of cultures and experiences of families in your community in this fun, interactive group for parents/caregivers and children from 3 to 5 years of age. Enjoy stories, songs, and games with other parents and children. Open to all residents of Burnaby and New Westminster. This group is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
English Made Easy (E.M.E.) (Ages birth-6 years)
This group is a great opportunity for parents, grandparents and children to learn English, make friends, enjoy great food and learn about other cultures. The adults participate in an interactive and practical English lessons while the children learn language through fun crafts, colouring projects, songs and play. During each session, everyone shares a healthy snack together.
Fun Learning and You (F.L.Y.) (Ages 18 months-5years)
This group is offered to parents, grandparents and caregivers of children between 18 months and five years of age. The group offers parental information and topics to the adults in attendance, while the children have an opportunity for early learning and play in a warm, welcoming environment. This service is for residents living in New Westminster. This service is for residents living in New Westminster who are new to the English language.
Sensory Physical Literacy Arts Safety and Health (SPLASH) (Ages 2.5 - 5 years)
Early childhood exploration in a natural setting; exploring the parks of New Westminster. Encourages children to connect with nature by using sight, smell, sound and touch while exploring the ecosystem that surrounds them. Physical Literacy activities and games are incorporated into programming.
Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program
Free parenting program for parents with children aged 0-5yrs. This six week program is offered by trained Nobody’s Perfect facilitators and child-minding is available. Meet other parents, Share questions or concerns, Learn about child development, Talk about real-life parenting experiences, Work together and Discover ways of positive parenting.
