🌼 Meet Areesha Qureshi, Supportive Care Counsellor🌼

I am a recent graduate with a master's degree in social work. My journey has been fueled by a deep commitment to help individuals during their most vulnerable times.

Through my education, I have gained valuable insights into mental health, trauma, and person-centered care. But it's my hands-on experience in hospice that truly anchors my knowledge in authentic human connection.

Working in hospice has taught me the immense value of presence, compassion, and dignity at the end of life. It brings me immense joy to support not only Marigold Hospice Residence but also their families, providing comfort and emotional support during such challenging transitions. đź’•

Today, we raised the Marigold Hospice Care flag in the City of Clarington to celebrate the important role hospice care plays in our community. We were grateful to have members of attend and show their support, standing alongside us for this special moment.

Today marks Hospice Awareness Day in Durham Region.

To commemorate the occasion, a flag representing each hospice, including Marigold Hospice Care, was raised at Regional Headquarters to honour the compassionate support hospices provide to individuals and families throughout our community.

We thank the Regional Chair, John Henry for hosting this meaningful ceremony and for his ongoing support of hospice care in Durham. We are also grateful for the presence of Regional Councillor, Willie Woo.

Meet Lauren Palmer, our Volunteer Coordinator. 🌼
Lauren joined Marigold in December 2025, bringing experience from VON Durham Hospice Services in Whitby, where she worked as a Palliative Care Coordinator. With a background in Social Services and Animal Funeral Services, plus over 800 volunteer hours in mental health and crisis support, Lauren is passionate about recruiting, training, and supporting our amazing volunteers. Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We’re looking for a Fundraising and Administrative Assistant (part-time, 3 days/week) to support our mission in Clarington, ON.

In this vital role, you’ll:
