In Memory of Miss Shirley 🕊️
A little different of a post…and one I’ve honestly been struggling with for some time. I’ve always had a mental dilemma about posting my volunteer or humanitarian work. It’s something I don’t do for recognition or credit and I’ve always worried it defeats the altruistic intention. But this past year I came across Miss Shirley’s page and she shifted my perspective and inspired me.
Miss Shirley’s videos/posts of feeding the homeless inspired me to take action and do the same. I overcame my own personal biases and unfounded fears and approached those often ignored. Miss Shirley humanized the overlooked and taught the simple lesson of treat everyone with respect . She was judged for publicly posting her work but she did it anyway. And thank goodness she did because she made a greater impact by doing so.
Her intentions were pure and created a ripple effect. With her passing I wanted to honour her memory and continue her legacy by helping others and share her mission.
So today’s post is in honour of Miss Shirley, acknowledging all the lives she has touched, including mine. She’ll never know the impact she had on my life but I hope her legacy of spreading love and kindness continues 💗💫
🙏Posted with the purest intentions, and the hope that people continue to be inspired by Miss Shirley’s work.
