"I didn't have a choice."

This was something I heard several times from seniors recently at a senior's fair being hosted by a retirement home. While standing at my table, I always ask whoever comes by "is there anyone in their life who could use some extra help at home?"

What I heard from several of the residents at the retirement home was that when they got sick, their kids had decided it was time for them to move into retirement living.

Retirement living is an option and so is staying at home, with help. In your own home, you have your cherished belongings, your familiar environment, friends and family and the food you'd like to eat - it's the preferred option for almost everyone.
