Personally... I feel closest with my partner after sharing our practice together. Being open and vulnerable enough to do Yoga with each other, whatever that looks like, holds so much power. It opens doors to communicate and discover ourselves and each other, even when our practice doesn't involve any talking.

I've been really grateful for the opportunity lately to be guiding a few couples in their own practices together. It's been an honour to watch as their love grows for one another in new ways.

I really hope that everyone takes the time and opportunity to share just a bit of their practice with a partner. I don't just mean a romantic partner - just anyone that you may like to get closer with. This act of letting someone you value be around as you be your most vulnerable with yourself... It really is so beautiful and can make way for some great change.

I'd love to help.

I've been learning and noticing a lot since making the transition from group instructor to private teacher. Something I've been finding really interesting is the duality of how a lot of us think, as people. About ourselves and our capabilities. About what we think we need and how much power we think we have. I've noticed a lot how wholeheartedly we can think about and believe in things that contradict one another.

Like... Okay. Have you ever felt like you just want to be/feel seen? Acknowledged, paid attention to, taken care of? But then have you ever, at the same point in your life, resisted putting yourself in a position where attention is on you, and just you? You want Teacher to see and help you but the thought of a private class is terrifying because - guess what - you're the only person they're looking at.

Or. Your power. You feel powerful enough that if you were to do or say the "wrong" thing, you might cause harm. You might hurt feelings or, let's be extra, ruin a life. You might be the reason that things go bad. But, at the same time, when the time comes to use your power and your intention to move in a better direction...well, there's nothing we can do. You quote Murphy's Law and things will just happen the way they're supposed to.

It's human. But now... Which is it? Do you want to be seen or do you want to stay hidden? Are you powerful enough to make a difference or are things just going to play out whichever way?

Friends. Have you heard? We are a private studio. I offer sessions by-appointment. It could be with just you. Maybe you and one other person. Maybe you and a group of folks you want to join in Practice. Whatever it is, it will be tailored to you.

I know it's a bit different... but the personal growth that comes with building a private practice is really something else. Each session is specifically what you need. And on those days that you don't quite know what you need, a little help from the Tarot opens doors that we would probably have ignored, otherwise. There's something deeply personal and beautiful about a private practice and I am excited for all of you that have been joining me.

Let me know if you'd like to give it a shot.

hi friends

I come to you with an offering.

I often see students/practitioners of Yoga confusing the different kinds of yoga CLASSES to be the different paths of Yoga. That's not the case. These classes - Vinyasa, "hot/bikram" yoga, yin, restorative... they're all Hatha Yoga.

A lot of people going to Yoga classes don't necessarily know that because, well. teachers aren't teaching that.

I'm positive some of you have heard me tell you this, but the physical postures in Yoga (asana) are one of EIGHT "limbs" that make up all of Yoga. These limbs cover everything from the manner in which you communicate with people around you to Samadhi, or, Enlightenment. Amongst those 8 limbs, asana/posture isn't even at the beginning or end of the list. Meaning, it doesn't set the tone for your journey... and it's also not the destination. But, hey, we love our power flows, am I right?

This Sunday, before I get into the details of each of the limbs, I would love for you to join me in going over the basics. An overview of the different paths of Yoga, a little bit about the limbs, why they matter, and how we can be Yoga in a real way.

This session does not include a physically active Yoga class - this is more of a lecture/discussion situation. Let's just learn, okay?

Sunday, 11am.

is a whole vibe. here clearing our space before our little full moon ritual this week.

The perfect, safe space to allow whatever comes up to come up. A night of manifestations.

I felt my ancestors heavy this week. I could SMELL Bangladesh while I was teaching. It was so interesting. I'm so grateful.

Our next class is on Tuesday. You can sign up at www.mukti.yoga

❂ My physical practice has been becoming.. less strong. But my interactions with myself and other beings has shifted. So.. my Yoga has still been growing and strengthening. Even though I haven't been doing as many lunges as I used to.
_

I'm noticing things about how I approach discomfort. It usually goes like this: I anticipate something uncomfortable happening, I do things that I think will make me feel that discomfort less intensely, then I think about what's happening and how I'm feeling, etc etc. It's almost always AFTER I run away and do something to soften the blow, that I sit with the discomfort I'm apparently so afraid of. It's always AFTER the challenging Yang sequence that we seem to settle into Yin and confront ourselves deeply and openly.
_

I've been trying to switch it up lately. In my spiritual, mental, and emotional bodies, that looks like acknowledging when I'm anxious and considering it. Dealing with it. Before I try to make it feel less scary, because I honestly don't KNOW how uncomfortable things will actually be. Feel my feelings and take the steps I need to.. before I run to a spliff, before I put my energy in places and people I don't need or want, before I attack the people that I love.
_

In my physical body, this looks like sitting in stillness before I create fire. Opening my body up before I try to get energy to flow through it. Settling into discomfort via Yin postures before I'm diving into any vinyasa.
_

I'll be exploring this further in my class coming up on Wednesday. $5. You can find more information at www.mukti.yoga❂

❂ "Who is the I that knows the bodily me, who has an image of myself and a sense of identity over time, who knows that I have propriate strivings? I know all these things, and what is more, I know that I know them. But who is it who has this perspectival grasp?" ❂

Does your mom practice yoga with you? Mine neither. Fun fact: we opened the studio together and she still likes to practice at home without me 😤🙄

I'm pushing her to Yoga with me today. Join us! With your mom. With your kids. Or even on your own - celebrating the strength our universal Mother has instilled in you.
_

My class is still up today. For $5 you two can play around with movements that make me feel feminine and full of life. Nothing too crazy, just exploring some things.
Register/pay at www.mukti.yoga and I'll send you a link to the class, which you can use all day today.

our philosophy.

Yoga is about so much more than breaking a sweat. Yoga is a lifestyle - a union of mind, body, spirit. A union of colour, culture, vibrance, and love. I want nothing more than to provide you with the opportunity to connect with yourself, free of judgment and hesitation. I want this space to be one filled with diversity and thought, where we can consider ideas that might seem… scary. A place where you can laugh, you can cry, and you can love and be loved, unconditionally. Find your Mukti. Find your freedom.
