From booking and managing medical appointments correctly to getting the right medication to the right patient as well as filing all appropriate health insurance documents, we are the lifeline for medical care here at Falls Walk-in Clinic. You would be expected to perform several clerical and administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, and telephone handling in a fast-paced environment.
The general job description includes;
1. Answer customer enquiries and transfer calls when necessary to the appropriate office using the switchboard system in accordance with the proper telephone handling procedures.
2. Keeping organized patient medical records and appointment schedules using records management software provided by the organization.
3. Transcribe paperwork on physical examinations and medical histories into a digital format for storage in the cloud-based backup system In line with company policy
4. Provide patients with information on their health and treatment plans via emails and/or letters using pre-defined templates provided.
5. Support medical office staff and physicians in varied clerical duties using applicable Microsoft office tools to improve efficiency.
Skills and Competencies
• Knowledgeable about biology and human anatomy.
• Experience using records and information management principles
• Proficiency with Ms. Office tools & Cloud-based software
• Understand the privacy and data protection policies.
• Computing Skills
• Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Ability to transcribe accurately
• Creative and critical thinking skills.
Minimum Education Requirements
• 1 -2 years post-secondary education.
• Certification as a medical office assistant
Job Type
• Full-time

Compensation - $16.50 per hour

The position of a medical office assistant requires the following physical and time demands;
• Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
• Most of the work’s day is spent indoors.
• A significant amount of time in front of a computer screen daily.
• In emergency situations, may be exposed to blood.
• May involve dealing with irate and sometimes irrational patients.
