Today, May 28th 2025, marks a monumental day in Canada.

On this day twenty-five years ago, the remains of the Unknown Soldier were laid to rest at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. To mark the 25th anniversary of this solemn occasion, a commemorative ceremony will take place today at the National War Memorial.

During the First World War, there were an overwhelming number of unidentified soldiers that were buried in the vicinity of Vimy Ridge. The Royal Canadian Legion was determined to establish a resting place of honour and respect for one soldier, that would represent all.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a sacred site of Remembrance, representing all of the servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

FREE CEMETERY GARDEN ASSISTANCE!
Just a reminder that Erica will be at Fairview Cemetery with Niagara Falls Cemetery Services in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada offering the assistance of Plots of Love with all things gardening every Saturday from 9am until noon starting tomorrow until and including the last Saturday in September 2024.
Call her at 365-880-5683 when you're at the cemetery and she'll come over to help with whatever you need.
Forget your watering can? Not one at the water tap? Erica will have one.
Feel like the bed could use a good trim around the edging? Erica will have a w**d wacker. Having trouble bending down to pull those nasty w**ds? Erica can do that for you.
Need a scrub brush to clean the stone of bird droppings? Erica will have one.

We are excited to welcome members of the Green Burial Society of Canada to the beautiful and historic City of Niagara Falls, Ontario!

Please consider joining us for their AGM and time at Willow's Rest. You will have an opportunity to meet some incredible people who are part of something bigger than themselves - a movement to create more options that support a more natural footprint within death, allowing people a chance to leave their mark more through legacy, and less on the natural world.

The countdown is on! Next Wednesday, we will be hosting our annual AGM. is graciously hosting the Green Burial Society of Canada. We have friends from coast to coast joining us for this special event. Please consider being with us in person at 5152 Thorold Stone Road, Niagara Falls in the Memorial Community Room, located in the Gale Centre. Doors open at 2pm and the meeting will start at 3pm. In the morning we would also like to invite you on a tour of Willow’s Rest at 10:30am at Niagara Falls Cemetery Services Fairview Cemetery. It will be an excellent opportunity to network and learn about green burial practices! Please let us know if you are coming!
