Hello, and happy spring! A few housekeeping items we'd like to remind our current clients of:

A gentle reminder that masks are still required for all clinic appointments. Though we appreciate that they may not be required in other settings, be aware that as a health care facility, we abide by different regulations and precautions. This applies to support persons coming into the clinic as well as children who are old enough to wear masks. If you do not wear a mask, you may be asked to make alternative arrangements for your appointment (please discuss with your midwife).

Support persons - we are noticing a shift in client requests for support persons/family attendance at clinic appointments. Though we appreciate that this has been a long haul and are in full support of the need for engagement of your family in your prenatal care, we have decided that we would like to move towards having partners/supports in visits in phases. For now, we would like to extend an offer of support persons coming to ONE prenatal visit, ideally in the third trimester (please discuss which visit you'd like for this to be with your midwife). Your supports are always welcome to attend by phone or video chat. We will be revisiting this policy throughout the summer and don't anticipate it will be too long before we feel supports can attend the majority of visits. A reminder that support persons are now able to attend all ultrasound appointments in the community.

As always, 2 masked support persons are allowed into the clinic for births.

Finding childcare for elder children for appointments is still encouraged, but we will make exceptions for children attending clinic visits so long as they are COVID-symptom free. A phone call to the office ahead of time to notify us of your children attending is always appreciated.

Miigwech for your patience!

Effective immediately, K'Tigaaning Midwives will no longer be allowing support persons in to the clinic for prenatal or postpartum visits.

It saddens us to say so, but rapidly rising COVID-19 case rates in our community (and across the province) have made us feel this is the best decision to protect our clients/staff at this time. You are still encouraged to Facetime or call your support persons during your visits to allow for participation and questions, and this will not affect support persons' attendance at clinic, home, or hospital births. Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding!

K’Tigaaning Midwives is happy to announce that we are finally able to modify our COVID policies to allow for fully vaccinated support persons to enter our clinic for prenatal and/or postpartum visits. They will be required to show proof of double-vaccination at the door. Clients are not being asked to show proof of vaccination at this time to receive care.

We are also expanding the number of support persons in labour for clinic births to two (consistent with North Bay Regional Health Centre’s recent policy change for support persons in labour when in hospital). Proof of vaccination status is not required for labour/birth partners.

This policy change is effective immediately and is subject to change at any time, according to Public Health guidelines and/or any significant changes in the number of cases of COVID locally.

We ask that support persons wear masks during their time in the clinic and that they comply with our current COVID-screening policies which involves a questionnaire to be answered at the door. We are also routinely checking temperatures upon entry.

If you or anyone in your household are feeling unwell, please call the office to make alternative arrangements (or page your midwife, if appropriate).

Miigwetch! We are looking forward to seeing more of you and your family soon.

Please note that applications for our receptionist posting are now CLOSED. We have found an excellent candidate who you may meet at the clinic soon! We appreciate all of the interest and are thankful to those that applied.

Miigwech,

Pre-COVID, we received some lovely donations from current and past clients with the intent being to redistribute them to the community! However, with all the changes to the way we can operate right now, these treasures fell off our radar. After some fall cleaning, we had the idea to just put them up on here. If anyone out there could use something or if you know of someone who could comment below and we can organize a time with you to pick them up in a COVID safe manner:)
