Meet Sara, one of our intern counsellors in the final year of her Master of Counselling Psychology at Adler University.

Originally from Iran and raised in Saskatchewan, Sara brings a global perspective and a deep appreciation for culture, identity, and belonging to her counselling work. Her approach is warm, open, and culturally sensitive — creating a safe space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted.

Drawing from a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, Sara supports clients in exploring their inner worlds with curiosity and compassion. She values deep listening, emotional exploration, and helping people reconnect with resilience and possibility.

And because therapists are human too…
Unfortunately, she does love rewatching her favourite comfort shows (The Mindy Project, The Office, Bojack Horseman, Scream Queens), when clients accidentally swear in session, and saving recipes she’ll never make. She also loves booking last-minute overpriced workout classes, using too many metaphors and idioms in conversation, and when pets make surprise appearances during virtual sessions.

Sara offers both in-person and virtual sessions at a reduced intern rate. Learn more or book a session through the link in our bio.

This November, for Men’s Health Month, we’re highlighting LVC counsellor Eric Hadley, RCC, whose approach to therapy invites a quiet kind of courage: the courage to be fully yourself.

“Being yourself might be the greatest challenge of life. When counselling is at its best, it’s supporting people to become themselves more fully, not to change who they are.”

Eric believes therapy isn’t about fixing or labeling. It’s a space to meet yourself honestly, and to look beneath the categories and concepts we often use to define who we are.

“Meaningful change comes from doing the opposite: pulling back the ideas we layer on top of ourselves to engage with the human experience underneath.”

Men’s mental health deserves this kind of space that is grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and compassion.

November is Men’s Mental Health Month: a time to start important conversations.

Many men struggle in silence, unsure how to ask for help or even where to begin. Therapy offers a space to explore emotions, relationships, and identity without judgment.

Learn how counselling can support men and male-identifying clients in recognizing the signs and taking that first step toward balance and well-being.

Meet Lauren, a calm, grounded counsellor who supports clients through life transitions, grief, personal change, and challenges with body, food, and exercise.

Lauren brings a collaborative, trauma-informed approach to her sessions, creating space to question cultural norms, reconnect with inner wisdom, and use humour as a tool for healing. She integrates mindfulness-based practices such as ACT, DBT, and self-compassion while focusing on the relationship as the foundation of therapeutic work.

With a background as an Occupational Therapist specializing in eating disorders, Lauren understands the importance of seeing the whole person — mind, body, and environment — in the journey toward well-being.

And because therapists are human too…
Unfortunately, she does love having passionate debates about which chips are the best, 90s power ballads (Celine Dion is a queen), and finding opportunities in a session to turn a “but” into an “and.”

Lauren offers both in-person and virtual sessions. Learn more or book a session through the link in our bio.

Honest moments like these help your therapist understand what’s happening for you so you can move through it together.

You never have to filter yourself here. Every feeling, every silence, every pause is welcome.

✨ Getting to know our counsellors (the real-life version!)

Born and raised in Lynn Valley, Jess is passionate about giving back to the community she grew up in. Her approach to counselling is holistic and grounded in the belief that healing happens not only within ourselves, but in connection with others. She recognizes the deep links between our mental, physical, spiritual, and community well-being.

As a q***r woman, Jess offers a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore identity, relationships, and life transitions at their own pace. She values collaboration, authenticity, and meeting each person exactly where they are.

And because therapists are human too…
Unfortunately, she does love silence in a session that says more than words could, bruises that tell a good story (guess the sport!), and rewatching TV shows she’s seen a million times (any Grey’s Anatomy fans?). She also loves when a client surprises themselves with compassion instead of criticism.

Jess offers both in-person and virtual sessions.

Let’s break down some of the myths that stop men from reaching out for help.

Therapy isn’t about weakness, it’s about understanding yourself and learning new ways to cope, communicate, and connect.

Whether it’s stress, burnout, or simply feeling disconnected, support is always available.

💬 Our intern counsellors offer sessions at a reduced rate ($80 CAD + GST) — in person or virtually.
Because everyone deserves access to mental health care.

If this resonates, share it with someone who might need to see it. 💙

November is Men’s Health Month.

At Lynn Valley Counselling, we recognize that men’s mental health deserves space, compassion, and understanding.

Many men grow up hearing messages to “tough it out” or “stay strong.” But true strength comes from connection — from being honest about how you feel, reaching out, and taking care of yourself.

Therapy can be a powerful place to start. 💙

We all face scary things, and most of them don’t involve haunted houses. 👻

Opening up, setting boundaries, learning to rest…these are the quiet kinds of courage that therapy helps nurture.

Whatever you’re facing this season, you don’t have to do it alone. 💚

Happy Halloween from all of us at LVC! 🎃

✨ Getting to know our counsellors (the real-life version!)

Meet Harriet, one of our intern counsellors currently completing her Master of Counselling at City University.

With a background in child development, caregiving, and community-based support work, Harriet brings warmth, curiosity, and a genuine desire to help others feel seen and supported. Her approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and rooted in the belief that healing looks different for everyone.

Drawing from narrative therapy, DBT skills, and family systems work, Harriet supports clients in reconnecting with their resilience and sense of self. She creates a safe, flexible space for reflection, healing, and growth.

And because therapists are human too…
Unfortunately, she does love buying fresh produce just to let it go on a spiritual journey in her fridge, saying “I’ll just watch one episode” like she’s never met herself before, and reorganizing her to-do list more than actually doing the to-dos. She also loves being both the calmest and most emotionally chaotic person in the room, and saying “I read a study” when she really means “I saw a therapist on Instagram say.”

Harriet offers both in-person and virtual sessions at a reduced intern rate.

Book a free consultation with her through the link in our bio.
