Dry Needling & Shockwave Therapy — what’s the difference? ✨

Dry needling and shockwave therapy are two powerful tools used by physiotherapists to treat pain, tension, and stubborn injuries — but they work in very different ways.

Dry needling uses a thin, sterile needle inserted into tight or irritated muscle tissue (trigger points) to help release tension, improve blood flow, and reset dysfunctional muscle patterns. It’s especially helpful for muscle knots, chronic tightness, and movement restrictions.

Shockwave therapy uses high-energy sound waves applied externally to stimulate healing in injured tissue. It helps increase circulation, break down scar tissue, and encourage the body’s natural repair process — making it great for tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, and long-standing injuries.

Both treatments aim to reduce pain, restore movement, and get you back to doing what you love — faster and more effectively 💥

These therapies are performed by our physiotherapist Max Insa, who tailors each treatment to your body and your goals.

What is DNS? ✨

DNS stands for Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization — a powerful system used to assess, retrain, and restore how your body stabilizes and moves.

At its core, DNS teaches you how to properly connect your
🫁 diaphragm
💪 deep abdominal muscles
🌸 pelvic floor

This connection creates intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) — essential for efficient movement and for preventing back pain, hip flexor pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction.

DNS is ideal for:
• Pre- & post-partum women
• Runners & athletes
• Weight-lifters
• Anyone struggling to activate their pelvic floor correctly

We assess how your body stabilizes, then retrain it through functional positions like:
➡️ Supine breathing & dead bug
➡️ Prone & quadruped
➡️ Bear, squat & hinge
➡️ Deadlifting & sitting

Dr. Verity is now offering DNS at the clinic ✨ To book an appointment with her, visit QubeCore.com

Sleep Health: How Acupuncture Can Help You Rest Better 🌙
Blog Post by Einaz Farahmand, Acupuncturist

Sleep plays a vital role in your physical health, mental clarity, mood, and immune function. When stress, hormone imbalance, or a dysregulated nervous system interfere with sleep, acupuncture can help support the body’s natural ability to rest, restore, and reset.

How acupuncture supports better sleep:
✨Calms the nervous system by shifting the body out of “fight-or-flight”
✨Supports melatonin production and helps lower cortisol (stress hormone)
✨Enhances calming neurotransmitters like GABA and serotonin
✨Improves circulation to support deeper, more restorative sleep

Many patients report:
😴Falling asleep faster
😴Sleeping more deeply
😴Waking up feeling more refreshed and energized

Best results are seen when acupuncture is combined with:
🔹Consistent sleep and wake times
🔹Reduced screen time before bed
🔹A calming nighttime routine

If difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking unrefreshed is impacting your life, acupuncture offers a gentle, evidence-informed approach to improving sleep quality.

Neuro Dynamic Solutions (NDS) 🧠✨

NDS stands for Neuro Dynamic Solutions—a clinical approach used to evaluate, diagnose, and treat the nervous system in relation to movement and pain.

This technique looks at both the mechanics and physiology of the nervous system and how it integrates with musculoskeletal function, helping to identify whether symptoms are coming from neurodynamic involvement or purely musculoskeletal causes.

What makes NDS unique is that it serves as both a diagnostic tool and a treatment protocol, allowing for more precise, targeted care.

Therapeutic Botox: More Than Cosmetic 💉

Botox is widely recognized for aesthetics, but its role in medical and therapeutic care is just as impactful. Therapeutic Botox is an evidence-based treatment used to manage chronic pain, excessive muscle tension, neurological conditions, and autonomic dysfunction.

🔹 How it works
Therapeutic Botox involves precise injections of botulinum toxin type A into targeted muscles or glands. By blocking the release of acetylcholine, it helps calm overactive muscles or glands—allowing them to relax and reducing pain, spasm, or excessive sweating. Unlike systemic medications, Botox works locally, with minimal impact on the rest of the body.

🔹 Conditions commonly treated
• Chronic migraine headaches
• Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
• TMJ disorders and jaw tension
• Cervical muscle spasticity and neck pain

🔹 Potential benefits
• Reduced muscle overactivity
• Decreased nerve-driven pain signals
• Improved muscle balance and function
• Reduced glandular overactivity

The goal is controlled relaxation to restore comfort, function, and quality of life. When administered by trained medical professionals, therapeutic Botox can be a powerful tool in comprehensive pain and neuromuscular care.

What is PRP Therapy? 🩸
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses your body’s own blood to support healing and tissue repair.

How it works:
• A small blood sample is taken and concentrated to isolate platelets
• Platelets are rich in growth factors that promote healing
• The PRP is injected into the injured or painful area to stimulate repair

Benefits of PRP Therapy:
✔ Supports natural tissue regeneration
✔ May reduce pain and inflammation
✔ Improves healing in joints, tendons, and ligaments
✔ Can stimulate hair follicles and support hair growth and thickness
✔ Minimally invasive with little downtime
✔ Uses your own cells — no synthetic substances

PRP is commonly used for joint and soft tissue injuries, chronic pain conditions, and hair thinning or hair loss in both men and women.

✨ Now offering PRP Therapy in-clinic with Dr. Mahshid Gharedaghi, our experienced MD with expertise in pain management, advanced injection therapies, and medical imaging, allowing for precise and evidence-based treatment.

Struggling with persistent pain or hair thinning? PRP may be an option worth exploring. Call us at 604.210.2274 to learn more 📞
