#6 LGH Foundation invested $50,000 to help bring faster, more precise stroke diagnosis to hundreds of patients from across the North Shore, Sea-to-Sky Region and the Sunshine Coast. An AI-driven software called RapidAI quickly processes and analyses CT scans to help stroke neurologists make fast decisions about treatment and care. With scans that can be accessed via mobile phones, physicians can be reached quickly when time is critical. Close to 700 stroke patients arrive at the LGH Emergency Department each year and many will benefit from the new technology.

Step Up for LGH back in October was our biggest community fundraiser of the year. More than 500 people turned out for our annual walk-a-thon to help raise money for our Re-Imagine Rehab campaign. By walking and working together we raised a record total of $233,390.

#9 Dressed for Success.

Our Foundation Youth Engagement Committee combined fashion with fundraising to organize and host our first ever Grad Dress Fashion Show. The glamorous event held at Shipyards featured local students on the catwalk showing off the latest grad fashion designs. With a guest appearance by former model and LGH Patient Care Coordinator, Krista Sholten, the Committee raised more than $12,000 for the North Shore Lend a Hand Fund.

First on the Top 10 countdown is the Save-on-Foods Staff BBQ.

#10 Served with a smile: When LGH Foundation hosted a staff appreciation BBQ in September, a team of managers from Save-on-Foods North Vancouver took on the challenge of feeding hundreds of busy staff. They delivered, cooked and handed out 650 burgers, drinks and snacks in just 1.5 hours for staff who came from across the hospital campus.

Honour a Life is a poignant North Shore tradition that has been a part of the Christmas season for 33 years. You can visit the tree and write a card in memory of a loved one at any time until the New Year. The illuminated tree stands in Seawall Park in West Vancouver at the foot of 19th Street. Cards are provided but please bring your own pen. All are welcome.

We are the fundraising arm of Lions Gate Hospital and all the publicly funded health-care facilities and programs across the North Shore.

It is thanks to the tireless efforts of our many volunteers that the Foundation is so successful in raising the funds needed to purchase medical equipment and support facility upgrades. From participating in community events and office projects to organizing golf tournaments and selling Christmas cards, our team of volunteers continues to help us make a difference – and for that we’re grateful.
