We're honoured to be returning as a sponsor of the 15th Annual Rotary Ride for Rescue.

Taking place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, on Cypress Mountain, this fundraiser brings together elite cyclists and recreational riders of all ages in support of North Shore Rescue, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue 1, and other causes supported by the Rotary Club of West Vancouver Sunrise.

Participants can take on the timed 17 km road route up Cypress Bowl Road or the 11.5 km off-road mountain trail. A great challenge for a great cause.

The first edition of Neptune News for 2026 is out.

This month we're highlighting the people and community initiatives helping shape the future of our waterfront and the North Shore community — from celebrating women in waterfront industries, including a welcome to one of our new team members, Jennifer Sartorius, to supporting youth leadership through the Community Initiatives and Leadership program at Carson Graham Secondary School, and helping keep girls in baseball through the D5 Lionesses on the North Shore.

March 22 marks World Water Day, a global reminder of the importance of protecting one of our planet’s most vital natural resources.

For those of us working on the waterfront, water is not just a natural resource — it is the foundation of our operations.

Located on Burrard Inlet, Neptune Terminals is committed to operating responsibly in the marine environment through spill prevention measures, environmental monitoring, and close collaboration with port partners. As part of our operational water management practices, we recycle approximately 5.5 million litres of water on site each year, with all water treated before it leaves the terminal.

Today is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of safeguarding the waterways that support global trade, local communities, and marine ecosystems.

As we continue to celebrate the impact of women in our industry this March, we're proud to share this feature on our President, Megan Owen-Evans, who was recently profiled by Means & Ways in recognition of International Women’s Day.

She shares her journey from starting as a labourer at Cascadia Terminal in 1997 to leading Neptune today, a career she loves that spans nearly 30 years.

In the interview, she speaks to the role of resilient supply chains in Canada's economic future, from the importance of building new trade partnerships and leveraging Canada's natural resources, to the need for cooperation across provinces and industries to meet the demands of the next decade, as well as what it will take to create workplaces in the waterfront where more women feel welcome and can see what's possible for their own careers.

We were pleased to sponsor the 14th Annual Kidney Gala, held in recognition of World Kidney Day, alongside the BC Maritime Employers Association — an event that raised an incredible $360,000 for kidney patients across BC and the Yukon.

At Neptune Terminals, this cause is especially meaningful as our President, Megan Owen-Evans, is a two-time living organ donor and an advocate for living donation through her work with the Kidney Foundation and the Living Donor Circle of Excellence.

Every living donor makes a life-changing difference for patients and their families, and Neptune Terminals is proud to be part of the Living Donor Circle of Excellence, supporting employees who choose to donate.

At Neptune, our operations teams work across every shift — day and night — to keep the terminal running. They organize and oversee the safe unloading of trains, loading of ships, and movement of bulk cargo, including potash and steelmaking coal.

In addition to coordinating daily operations, the teams support environmental systems designed to minimize impacts, including automated spray poles connected to weather monitoring systems to help manage dust, as well as specialized equipment that maintains coverage across the terminal's 72 acres.

Working across shifts and roles, teams rely on coordination, planning, and attention to detail to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Stay tuned as we continue sharing more about the people and everyday operations that keep Neptune running.

Meet Brad Walker, our Vice President, Health, Safety & Environment.

Brad joined Neptune more than 8 years ago and is responsible for the leadership of the safety and environmental teams and management systems. He brings a diverse background from the oil and gas and power generation sectors, with experience spanning capital projects, operations and maintenance, and health and safety and environmental roles.

Outside of work, Brad and his family are proud North Vancouver locals who love making the most of everything the mountains have to offer — from mountain biking to snowboarding. As regular trail users, they've also given back by volunteering with the North Shore Mountain Biking Association on trail building and maintenance projects.

We're lucky to have Brad on the team, bringing both expertise and a deep connection to the community we call home.

Each day, 4 to 5 trains arrive at Neptune, and our team works hard to unload each one quickly so they can return to the mines and keep the Canadian supply chain moving.

On average, we unload:

• A 205-car potash train in 12.5 hours
• A 152-car steelmaking coal train in 3.85 hours

Rail is what connects the mines of Saskatchewan and BC to our terminal — and to markets overseas.

Celebrating International Women’s Day across the waterfront.

Last Friday, women from Neptune joined colleagues at the Waterfront DEI Council’s 2nd Annual International Women’s Day High Tea, a gathering dedicated to recognizing women across the sector.

This year’s theme, “Giving to Gain: Beliefs That Shape Our Impact,” created space for reflection, shared stories, and open conversation about leadership, courage, and the importance of supporting one another as we continue to build stronger pathways for women in our industry.

The event brought together leaders from across the waterfront to share perspectives and experiences, including Lindsay Thorley, Operations Superintendent at Neptune Terminals, who participated as one of the speakers.

Thank you to the Waterfront DEI Council, the BC Maritime Employers Association, and everyone who made this event possible.

This International Women’s Day, we recognize the achievements, contributions and leadership of the women who work at Neptune and help make us successful every day.

Across operations, maintenance, environmental management, human resources, community engagement, finance, administration and more, they make an impact on our business.

Today is an opportunity to acknowledge their contributions and the important role they play within our workplace and industry.
