This week, we join our community in pausing for Remembrance Day. On November 11th, we collectively honor the profound courage and sacrifice of all who have served and continue to serve our country in times of war, conflict, and peace.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the many veterans within our own First Light Home Care family and across the nation. Their service has protected our freedoms and way of life.

At 11:00 AM today, we encourage everyone to join in a moment of silence to remember their service and sacrifice.

Lest We Forget.

The first snow is beautiful, but it's also a safety hazard. โ„๏ธ Before the ice sets in, let's talk about fall prevention.

Slippery walkways, snowy steps, and blocked doorways are among the biggest risks for seniors during winter.

Today's Safety Tip:

Clear all pathways, steps, and ramps right away.

Apply salt, sand, or pet-safe ice melt for traction.

Ensure all entrances and exits are free of snow buildup for easy access.

At First Light Home Care, a safe home environment is our priority. Let's make this a safe and fall-free winter!

They were there for your first steps, your longest nights and your proudest moments. They showed up in quiet ways and loud ones through every high and low.

Now, the roles are beginning to shift. Itโ€™s your turn to be the steady hand, the comforting voice, the one who shows up.

We're here to help you do so.

The change in weather brings new safety concerns, particularly regarding slips, power outages, and maintaining home warmth. Please use this checklist as a guide to secure your loved one's environment:

Check and replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Ensure heating systems are working and schedule a furnace check-up.

Stock up on prescription medications and non-perishable foods.

Verify all doors and windows seal properly to prevent drafts and cold air.

Encourage layers of warm clothing and warm beverages to maintain core temperature.

Adjust bedtime and wake-up routines to account for reduced daylight hours.

Encourage consumption of healthy fats and nutrient-rich foods to boost immunity.

Caring for your loved one's safety and comfort is our top priority. By following these simple steps, you can help ensure a warm, healthy, and secure winter season. Please communicate any concerns or needed assistance to your FirstLight care coordinator. ๐Ÿ’™
