Start your day off right with a hearty, healthy breakfast bowl to hold you over throughout the day.

Many times I don’t get my lunch at the same time every day, so it’s so important to me to ensure I can make it to the afternoon without feeling starved.
I love quinoa bowls, add in some fried veg, greens, beans and/or tofu, and top it with a bit of salsa and vegan sour cream 🤤 and of course topped with nutritional yeast, h**p hearts and flax seed!

Collagen: What is it? And why is it unnecessary?

I’ve been hearing SO MUCH about collagen supplements. Between powders, infused drinks, pills and broths, this protein has taken the wellness industry by storm.
However, I’ve also spoken to friends who don’t even know how they make collagen powder.. which was a scary conversation. Imagine seeing an add for stronger nails & just hopping on the band wagon with no prior research of your own!
I’ve also had people wonder how on earth, as a vegan, I could possibly live without collagen. Here’s the secret… I don’t!
These are the reasons I’m here, to explain a little bit about what collagen is and how your body can make it naturally.

Collagen is a protein, and like all proteins it is made up of amino acids, such as glycine, proline, alanine, argentine & glutamic acid.

Today I soaked. I watched a comfort movie in the tub, which is my absolute happy place, and I tried to dissociate from the world.
I want so bad to believe in this movement, and yet there are people involved who don’t hold the same values as I do.
I feel torn, I feel used. And I feel so so confused. I want to trust my gut, but then I feel like I should be wearing a tinfoil hat. I feel like I don’t trust in anything anymore. I don’t trust our government, I don’t trust the media.
I don’t know who or what to believe anymore and I’m just really over it, because having no faith in the leaders of your government is a scary place to be.
I’m taking a break from social media again. Those few months where I only focused on my self and my friends & my relationship was the most ME I have felt in a very long time.
I’m going to focus on my m yoga teacher training, meditation, and all other things that ground me.

I truly hope that by the time I come back, these protests have gotten through, In a good and healing way. I hope for a world that we left behind two years ago. I hope that good people, with good intentions find a way to get through. I hope that our government can see that it’s people are fed up.
But most of all I hope my mental health can get in check, because I, along with so many, are not doing great.
I will be fine, I have my support system, but all scrolling through social media does is weigh me down.
It’s time to take some time.

A year ago I posted this photo with a blurb about body image, mental health, trauma and struggle. I posted about how it gets better and how good I feel. A year later I wanted to re-share that with an added something new…

Shortly after this post my mental health took a downward spiral.
This pandemic has been hard on everyone. Some more than others.
It can trigger traumas that you’ve shoved down, or never clearly realized you had.
We’re isolated, being told what to do, being forced into things that not everyone is comfortable with, and that can bring up past traumas of domestic and/or sexual abuse.
I had a talk about this with a friend the other day, and I didn’t even realize the similarities to my abuse. I didn’t realize just WHY i had been feeling so bad this past year, and to me this makes a lot of sense.
If you’re lucky enough to have not been through this type of trauma, it may be difficult for you to understand.
But please be gentle, please be kind, and please try to understand WHY peoples views don’t line up with yours. Sometimes it’s much deeper than even they can understand.
