As of Jan 01, 2023 Ontario has expanded pharmacists’ scope of practice to assess and treat 13 minor ailments.
Patients can simply call Shepherd Pharmacy or come to the pharmacy during regular hours and speak to the pharmacist.
Patients must present a valid Ontario health card to access this publicly funded service provided by the Government of Ontario. Patients are not required to pay a fee.
So if you have any of the following minor ailments ,please feel free to contact us:
* hay fever (allergic rhinitis);
* oral thrush (candidal stomatitis);
* pink eye (conjunctivitis; bacterial, allergic and viral);
* dermatitis (atopic, eczema, allergic and contact);
* menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea);
* acid reflux (gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD));
* hemorrhoids;
* cold sores (herpes labialis);
* impetigo;
* insect bites and hives;
* tick bites (post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent Lyme disease);
* sprains and strains (musculoskeletal); and
* urinary tract infections (UTIs).
