Why Breast Fat Transfer is a Win-Win!

It looks very natural, because it is:

🌟Fat is removed from areas you don’t want it and added to areas you do - like the breasts!
🌟Virtually no scars and completely natural.
🌟Perfect for subtle enhancements, restoring volume, and achieving a balanced shape.

➡️ This technique requires meticulous precision - each fat droplet is carefully placed to ensure optimal survival and shape, offering more natural-looking results.

➡️ With Fat Grafting to the breasts, I think having a reasonable breast volume to start with is helpful because we can only double the size of the breast and then you lose about 40 % of that. I think having realistic goals about what fat transfer can do is really important. Going up a cup size wouldn’t be uncommon, going up 50, 60 percent would be the expectation.

“The goal of plastic surgery is to have people wondering why you look so good, not guessing what you’ve had done.”

✨ You’re never alone in this process - we’re with you every step of the way.

Why I think personalized patient care is important:

“When I talk to patients, everybody’s unique, everybody has their own goals, everybody comes in with different shapes and forms and I think it’s my job to help them understand how we get from where they are to where they want to be, and also if it’s possible or realistic.

I think it’s important to share with them the technical nuances that are specific to them. I think different people want different relationships with their surgeon as well. Some relationships I have with people are really fun. We joke around quite a bit and I really enjoy that but it’s not right for everybody.

Some people are looking for somebody a little bit more serious in those situations. You tone down a little bit to make sure that they feel comfortable. I never want humour to come in the way of comfort for people. I try to use it the opposite to actually build relationships, but it’s not right for everybody.”

What is recovery like after a MOMMY MAKEOVER?

“When I talk to people about recovery after a Mommy Makeover, it’s really the Tummy Tuck, which is going to be the longer healing phase. And it’s not terribly painful, but you’re definitely moving slow for a few days. So I tell people the first few days you’re moving slow. By a week, I would say half the people walking into their post-op visit are moving normal. But that leaves half the people still moving just a little slow. They’re not in a significant discomfort, but they’re just not moving quick.

When we talk to people about their scars, scars go through a whole healing process and we walk people through it each step of the way. So what I do in surgery is important, but also what we do after surgery is important. We use taping to decrease tension. At about three weeks, we switch to silicone and massage and we instruct you on that. Final scars are maybe are a year away.

So the scars that you see at three months, they’re not necessarily reflective of what it’s going to look like at a year. After three months, there’s really nothing to do other than just be mindful about sun exposure on a fresh scar.”

THE MOMMY MAKEOVER REVEAL:

☑️The goal for the breasts was to provide lift and more symmetry.

☑️ The goal for the tummy was to provide a fitter, yet still a very natural appearance.

THE TREATMENT PLAN:

🌟Thinning of the fat layer, flank liposuction, muscle repair, and low scar position.
🌟Elevation of the p***c mound was also performed to give a more youthful contour.
🌟A natural-looking belly button was really important to the patient.

✨The scars are still immature and are expected to fade further over the next year.

Implants vs. Fat Transfer: Which is Better for Natural Results?

➡️ Each option has unique benefits. Implants offer immediate, permanent results, while fat grafting provides a natural feel and soft beauty over time. Both can also be combined both for the best of both worlds!

✨Benefits of an implant:

✔️The result is permanent and immediate.
✔️ The implant provides shape to a breast that may not have the nicest shape.
✔️ It can lift a ni**le a little bit by pushing the breast forward.

✨Benefits of breast fat transfer alone:

✔️ It is perfectly natural and soft.
✔️ The fat is removed from one area that you don’t want it and is transferred into the breast where you do want the fat.
✔️ There are virtually no scars.

✨Here are the advantages of using both:

✔️ It provides a fuller breast with an implant but uses fat transfer to conceal the implant.
✔️ It allows women who have lost volume in their upper breast to have an implant that is hidden and natural looking.
✔️ It provides the option to place an implant over top of the muscle.

📸Before & After Photo: This female patient was treated with Breast Fat Transfer, to add volume to her cup size and a balanced shape. She received more than one fat transfer, which are shown in the photos above. Her results are natural looking and just want she was hoping for!

Considering a LABIAPLASTY?
Here’s what you need to know…

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes the l***a to reduce physical discomfort and improve appearance. It’s often chosen by women who feel self-conscious, experience irritation, or notice changes after childbirth.

The l***a minora (inner lips) and l***a majora (outer lips) can both be treated:

🌸 Minora: Reduced when excess tissue causes discomfort or extends beyond the outer lips.

🌸 Majora: Tissue can be reduced for a flatter look, or enhanced with filler for a fuller contour.

The Technical Side:

Labiaplasty is considered basic plastic surgery, but precision is critical. The biggest technical risk is overcorrection—removing too much tissue—which can be difficult to fix. A skilled surgeon will measure carefully, remove conservatively, and close meticulously.
Both plastic surgeons and gynecologists may perform l***aplasties. While gynecologists are experts in anatomy, plastic surgeons often have more experience with tissue reshaping and scar optimization.

Regardless of specialty, choose someone who:

✔ Understands your goals

✔ Takes time to answer all your questions

✔ Makes you feel supported before and after surgery

You should never feel rushed. This is your body and your decision—choose a surgeon who respects that.

✨ You’re never alone in this process - we are with you every step of the way.

Considering Labiaplasty?
Here’s what you need to know.

“So I think one of the important considerations is what the end goal is, what you’re hoping to look like. I think that oftentimes when people have a lot of l***a fullness, they want to go to the opposite extreme. And I think it’s important to counsel them what the right amount is to remove.

So we spent a fair bit of time talking about exactly where the tissue is going to be removed, exactly what’s going to stay. I would say by far the most common reason people have a Labiaplasty is they just feel that their l***a minora the inside lip is too full that it either aesthetically is not what they’re looking for or it’s actually uncomfortable that it can get caught in clothing or get caught during sexual relations and they just want it made smaller.

The procedure itself is fairly straightforward - you’re asleep, it takes less than an hour to do, you wake up and it’s done, and then we’d follow you up a week later to make sure all is well.”

What is the Perfect Breast Augmentation?

“The perfect Breast Augmentation is the one that is customized for YOU.

In your consultation, we take the time to go over your goals, specifically what you feel is appropriate sizing and we will review different photos to determine what you are looking for.

We will also use different sizing techniques to select the right implant and ideal size. We then have a discussion about the pros and cons of different choices that will help you to make the right choice to get the best breast augmentation result.

I want my patients to have beautiful, natural-looking breasts, and I try to use my experience and expertise to help them select the best option for their body and their goals.”

The Hallmark of a Great Tummy Tuck Isn’t Just a Flatter Stomach - It’s a Natural-Looking Belly Button.

Most patients worry that surgery will look “obvious.” Dr. Rodger Shortt focuses on the technical nuances that define a natural result.

In this Mommy Makeover, the focus was on:

➡️ A natural, oval belly button shape.
➡️ Athletic contouring that harmonizes with her frame.
➡️ Scars strategically hidden below the bikini line.
➡️ A breast reduction, focussing on volume, shape and balance.

“I think the sign of a successful Tummy Tuck is that nobody knows you’ve had one. It’s not about looking like you’ve had work done - it’s about looking refreshed, confident, and naturally beautiful.” Dr Rodger Shortt, MD, FRCSC, Expert Plastic Surgeon.
