▶️ What are Some Common MYTHS About Breast Fat Transfer?

“I’d say the most common myth that surrounds BFT is that it disappears. And I don’t think that that’s quite accurate. I think it’s fair to say that the fat that we put in at the time of surgery, not all of it’s going to survive. At week one, when you’re swollen,
that volume is not reflective of what you’re going to have at the end. When I demonstrate to
patients, you know, what fat transfer can do, I usually show them images that are at least three
months old. But I do show them images at a month and three months, we don’t see a big difference.

➡️ So the biggest MYTH is that you lose fat, but clarifying that would mean what you have at one week
isn’t what you’re going to have at three months. But what you have at three months, you should have
at, you know, 10 years if your weight hasn’t changed.”

➡️ What exactly is Breast Fat Transfer?

“The procedure of Breast Fat Transfer is really a combination of liposuction and then the injection of the fat into the breast. It looks very natural because it is. It’s just fat taken from one spot and moved to the other. It’s one of my favourite surgeries to do. At the end of it, you have fuller breasts, but you also have an improved contour where the liposuction was done.

✅ It’s really a win-win procedure for people, it’s a very natural looking result. You get improved contours in multiple places. There’s no implant, there’s no edge of the implant that people worry
about seeing. There’s no care about implants in the future. The fat that you have is your fat for life, once all the swelling goes away.”

Who is the Ideal Candidate for Breast Fat Transfer (BFT)?

“I think the ideal candidate for BFT would be somebody that meets, I guess, a few
criteria. You have to have some fat to donate. If there’s no fat to harvest from somewhere else in
liposuction, there’s no fat to put in. I think having a reasonable breast volume to start with is
helpful because we can only double the size of the breast and then you lose about 40% of that.
I think having realistic goals about what fat transfer can do is really important. Going up a cup
size wouldn’t be uncommon. Going up 50-60% would be the expectation. But for people who want to
be a whole lot fuller, it’s probably not the right surgery for them.”

Why Breast Fat Transfer is a Win-Win!

It looks very natural, because it is:

🌟Fat is removed from areas you don’t want it and added to areas you do - like the breasts!
🌟Virtually no scars and completely natural.
🌟Perfect for subtle enhancements, restoring volume, and achieving a balanced shape.

➡️ This technique requires meticulous precision - each fat droplet is carefully placed to ensure optimal survival and shape, offering more natural-looking results.

➡️ With Fat Grafting to the breasts, I think having a reasonable breast volume to start with is helpful because we can only double the size of the breast and then you lose about 40 % of that. I think having realistic goals about what fat transfer can do is really important. Going up a cup size wouldn’t be uncommon, going up 50, 60 percent would be the expectation.

“The goal of plastic surgery is to have people wondering why you look so good, not guessing what you’ve had done.”

Why I think personalized patient care is important:

“When I talk to patients, everybody’s unique, everybody has their own goals, everybody comes in with different shapes and forms and I think it’s my job to help them understand how we get from where they are to where they want to be, and also if it’s possible or realistic.

I think it’s important to share with them the technical nuances that are specific to them. I think different people want different relationships with their surgeon as well. Some relationships I have with people are really fun. We joke around quite a bit and I really enjoy that but it’s not right for everybody.

Some people are looking for somebody a little bit more serious in those situations. You tone down a little bit to make sure that they feel comfortable. I never want humour to come in the way of comfort for people. I try to use it the opposite to actually build relationships, but it’s not right for everybody.”

What is recovery like after a MOMMY MAKEOVER?

“When I talk to people about recovery after a Mommy Makeover, it’s really the Tummy Tuck, which is going to be the longer healing phase. And it’s not terribly painful, but you’re definitely moving slow for a few days. So I tell people the first few days you’re moving slow. By a week, I would say half the people walking into their post-op visit are moving normal. But that leaves half the people still moving just a little slow. They’re not in a significant discomfort, but they’re just not moving quick.

When we talk to people about their scars, scars go through a whole healing process and we walk people through it each step of the way. So what I do in surgery is important, but also what we do after surgery is important. We use taping to decrease tension. At about three weeks, we switch to silicone and massage and we instruct you on that. Final scars are maybe are a year away.

So the scars that you see at three months, they’re not necessarily reflective of what it’s going to look like at a year. After three months, there’s really nothing to do other than just be mindful about sun exposure on a fresh scar.”

THE MOMMY MAKEOVER REVEAL:

☑️The goal for the breasts was to provide lift and more symmetry.

☑️ The goal for the tummy was to provide a fitter, yet still a very natural appearance.

THE TREATMENT PLAN:

🌟Thinning of the fat layer, flank liposuction, muscle repair, and low scar position.
🌟Elevation of the p***c mound was also performed to give a more youthful contour.
🌟A natural-looking belly button was really important to the patient.

✨The scars are still immature and are expected to fade further over the next year.
