Tyrique is a Security Supervisor at Halton Healthcare, and Pauline is a Registered Nurse in the Milton District Hospital Emergency Department. đź’™

Their story began back in 2019, when Tyrique first noticed Pauline. He was a security guard, and she worked in the Emergency Department. Hoping to strike up a conversation, he jokingly pretended to be a Pokémon fan (knowing she loved it)… and it worked!

Fast forward to 2026, and they’re now married and have welcomed their first child.

Wishing Tyrique and Pauline, and everyone a very happy Valentine’s Day!❤️💌

Did you know Halton Healthcare has a dedicated team using data to help keep our hospitals running smoothly and support decision-making every day? 📊

This Love Data Week, we’re showing some love to our Performance Analytics team- the experts who transform complex data into clear, trusted insights for care teams and leaders across our sites.

From designing dashboards and scorecards to building standardized data models, their work helps power the wait times you see - supporting transparency and helping teams plan and improve access to care.

Their work supports programs across Halton Healthcare, including our Command Centre, and helps teams coordinate patient flow in real time, turning insight into action when it matters most.❤️💌

After years of unanswered eating challenges, this family found clarity and care at the Eating Disorder Clinic at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, where their daughter was diagnosed with emetophobia.

Through a one-year, team-based approach that included counseling, medication, and exposure therapy, the clinic helped restore her confidence, joy, and health.

“They earned our daughter’s trust. Appointments went from fear to a welcome routine. They gave us our daughter back.”

All Halton Healthcare outpatient clinics are open today and operating as scheduled. Snow removal is underway in parking areas, so please allow extra time and use caution, as surfaces may be slippery.

If weather or travel conditions make it difficult to attend your appointment, please contact your care team to rebook.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our health care teams and local first responders who worked through the storm to ensure our community continues to receive care. đź’™

Winter can be hard. Short days, cold weather, busy schedules, and the pressure of a New Year can quietly drain energy and motivation. For some, it can also trigger Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) — a real form of depression linked to reduced daylight.

Mental well-being is just as important as physical health, especially during the winter. Jason Barr, our Psychological Safety Consultant, shares a few practical ways to support your mindset this season.

You matter. Your mental health matters. And support is always within reach.

Snow shovelling can be harder on your heart than you think.

Sudden, strenuous activity in cold weather puts extra strain on your heart and can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Robin Pohl, Cardiac Rehab Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Milton District Hospital, reminds everyone to pace themselves, take breaks, and listen to their body when shovelling snow.

⚠️ Higher risk if you are:
• An older adult
• Living with high blood pressure or heart disease
• Managing heart failure
• Usually sedentary

🚨 Watch for warning signs:
Chest discomfort, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, or unusual sweating.

âś… Shovel smarter:
Warm up, take breaks, push snow, when possible, dress in layers, stay hydrated, and stop immediately if symptoms appear.

If you’re a high-risk individual, consider asking someone to help, using a snowblower, or hiring a service, your heart is worth it.
