We finished our first week of classes yesterday with a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra practice.

I would love to know how you’re feeling! Me? I’m a bit tired if I’m being honest! Recalibrating to work and my soul work took a minute, but I have to say, I had the best sleep last night!

Yoga, personal growth, shadow work, nervous system work, inner child, it really feels like my life’s path to share it with you. To remind you how to love all versions of yourself, this physical vessel that carry’s us each day and all the pieces that’s we picked up or lost along the way.

And yoga, the physical practice, really helps us get out of our heads and into our bodies. It helps us listen. It helps us learn gentleness and compassion without judgement. I can’t wait to share another week of movement and breath with you!

Mondays class is FULL! But there is room Tuesday morning at 9am for our morning flow class.

Yoga Nidra, also known as "yogic sleep" is a practice that helps brings out brains back into an Alpha state... Normally our thinking mind is running in a Beta state, if you were to see this on screen it would look like a bunch of chicken scratch.

The Alpha state looks like slow rolling valleys. This is the state we are in when we first wake up, not quite awake, not quite asleep.

What happens in this state is we begin to relax on a deeper level... we are not just sleeping, resting the physical body. We are unwinding the knots in our central nervous system. Essentially taking us out of reaction, and into observation.

We do this by moving through, what in yoga we call, Koshas. These are the different layers of the body, physical, energetic, emotional, intelectual and spiritual. Through a systematic approach we start to peel back all the layers and land in the heart.

In this state we can begin to rewire our nervous system to bring about deep states of healing, calm, relaxation and we can actually begin to reduce inflammation and so much more.

Yoga Nidra is a deeply healing practice and when practiced regularly can support releiving deep rooted stress, anxiety, and trauma the body is holding onto.

*sappy post incoming* My life has taken a complete 180… let me explain.

I got a part time job, that turned into full time within a week. Moved classes to a new space (Jilly’s wellness studio) and added classes. Launched the Moss Maiden Botanicals Spring Alchemy Box and then got a text our landlords are listing the house so we have to move, again. 🤪

And, when this happens it’s SO easy to fall into the chaos and lose control of your own wellbeing practices. What has kept me grounded? Community, this community here 👇🏼.

You all show up for yourself, make the commitment to tend to your wellbeing and remind me to do the same. You also support me in so many more ways than just “paying to come to yoga”. You quite literally enrich my quality of life. Lynn Côté sharing meals with me 🥹 Linore sharing book recommendations. Jill for letting me vent before class 😂 Sabrina for always reminding me she’s my biggest fan 🥰 just to name a few.

Each of you contribute so much more to my life than you know!! So really thank you, because I’m really starting to feel at home here now ♥️

I’m snapped this photo at the end of class because it brought tears to my eyes. 18 of you showed up for yourselves tonight, some of you new to my classes and willing to trust me enough to give it a go! I am SO GRATEFUL, I have not taught this size class since leaving okotoks/Calgary area. My heart is so full, thank you, thank you, thank you. You all did so amazing tonight.

Presence is crucial to your yoga practice. Even if you do not nail the posture, it is about being IN the body, listening to the body being present.

We aren't worrying about what our posture could look like, used to look like, or was last week.

We aren't thinking about what we need to do later, or what happened earlier today.

We are simply being present with ourselves, our bodies, emotions, our soul.

This can be really terrifying for people, it can feel really vulnerable. But when we learn that it is just you and your mat, it gets a little easier.

The people you practice with become so much more than just "other students" they become a deeply understanding community of individuals who are also walking this path with you. They see you, they understand the struggles and the effort it takes sometimes to show up.

I can attest to this.

The community I have around me from others who are walking this path, who show up even if a few years have passed, is beyond incredible. High River, Okotoks, Calgary and more recently Sundre, Caroline, Rocky Mountain House and Alder Flats... I am always so blown away by how you show up for yourselves, for me and for everyone else. I am so grateful to all of you. Thank you!!

So, yes. Community is the foundation of your yoga practice.

I’m really just a girl excited about bringing more light into peoples lives. Through daily, weekly or monthly classes I hope to inspire you to become the best version of you. Pushing you to challenge yourself while finding a compassion and ease for where you currently are. Yoga is a journey, we are all on this path together, my goal is to inspire and support you in all the ways I can. Namaste
