Your newborn’s belly is tiny — about the size of a marble on day one!
That means your baby doesn’t need much milk at each feeding to feel full.

Feeding every 1–3 hours is normal and helps your milk supply grow. You might even hear your baby’s soft suck-suck-swallow rhythm — a beautiful sign they’re getting what they need. 💛

In the first few days, most babies who are getting breast milk don’t need infant formula.
If you’re worried your baby isn’t getting enough, reach out to a lactation consultant or your baby’s doctor. You don’t have to figure it out alone — there’s support waiting for you. 💕

When my son was a toddler, we read a story about a family of puppies experiencing the seasons for the first time.

Born in the spring, the puppies loved chasing butterflies, rolling in the grass, basking in the sun — until one day the leaves began to change colour and fall. The wind blew cold, and the puppies were frightened. Their world was crumbling, and they didn’t understand why.

Of course, nothing was “wrong.” The world was simply shifting into a new season. And soon, they discovered the joy of crunchy leaves and bounding through snow drifts.

Parenthood feels a bit like that sometimes. Feeding patterns shift. Sleep changes. Relationships evolve. Life looks different from one week to the next. It can feel uncertain — but often, it’s just a new season settling in.

🌸 This month’s Nurturing Notes newsletter is all about trusting the process — in feeding, in sleep, and in yourself.

Here’s what you’ll find inside:

✨ New on the Blog: What to expect during a breastfeeding home visit + When nipple shields might help.
💬 Question of the month: “Can I keep up my milk supply if I only breastfeed and don't pump?
🧠 Recent Research: Responsive parenting — it starts with feeding.
👉 Did You Know? Babies are born knowing how to crawl and latch without our help.

I was traveling this weekend and spotted these freestanding pods with locking doors at Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto. They’re designed for parents who are breastfeeding or pumping.

The airport already has plenty of cozy seating—couches, chairs, and lots of outlets—so it got me wondering:

✨ Are these pods a thoughtful gesture that supports parents?
✨ Or are they another way of isolating breastfeeding moms from public spaces?

I’d love to hear your thoughts— comment below! 👇
