**PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT – ONION LAKE CREE NATION**

We are alerting the community that multiple overdoses have occurred within the last 36 hours in the Onion Lake Cree Nation.
**At this time, there have been NO reported deaths.**
However, there is a serious concern that drugs currently being sold may be contaminated or fatally mixed. This significantly increases the risk of overdose, even in small amounts.
Please take the following precautions:
• Avoid using substances alone
• Carry a naloxone kit if available
• Check on family and friends
• Call for help immediately if an overdose is suspected

Know the signs of overdose:
• Slow or no breathing
• Blue or pale lips/nails
• Unconsciousness or inability to wake
• Choking or gurgling sounds
If you suspect an overdose, **CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY** and administer naloxone if available. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act offers legal protection when seeking help. This means you will not face criminal or legal charges when helping someone who is having an overdose.
