History Minute!

Origins of Hot Stone Massage

Ancient Roots: Similar practices date back 5,000 years in Ayurvedic traditions (India) and ancient Chinese medicine.

Ancient Roots:
India (Ayurveda): Considered one of the earliest sources, where heated river stones were used for natural healing.

China: Used heated stones 2,000 years ago to improve internal organ function and energy flow.

Japan: Warmed stones were used to heat body parts to aid digestion and organ health around 4,000 years ago.

Hawaii (Lomi Lomi): Shamans used heated lava rocks to increase circulation and soothe the body and spirit.

North America (Indigenous Peoples): Used heated stones in sweat lodges for spiritual purification and physical healing.

Volcanic Stones: Nordic versions often use smooth, heated basalt stones, sourced from volcanic regions like Iceland, prized for their heat.

I've been counting down the hours in excitement for announcing this! But a while back I had said there was something new coming into practice at the clinic. Im ao excited to share this is and bring it to life!

New Service Announcement.

Santa may be coming to town but even better HOT/ COLD STONE MASSAGE THERAPY ! is coming to the clinic!

Here's just a few benefits to get you excited as I am πŸ₯°πŸ€

Hot Stone Therapy Benefits (Heat)

- Muscle Relaxation & Pain Relief: Heat penetrates deep, easing stiffness, knots, and spasms, reducing chronic pain and improving flexibility.

- Improved Circulation: Dilates blood vessels, increasing blood flow, oxygen, and nutrient delivery to tissues.

- Stress Reduction: Promotes deep relaxation, calming the nervous system and easing anxiety.

- Detoxification: Stimulates lymphatic drainage, helping the body release toxins.

Cold Stone Therapy Benefits (Cold)

- Reduces Inflammation: Contracts blood vessels, helpful for acute injuries, redness, and inflammation.

- Soothes Nervous System: Calms the mind, helping with migraines, sinusitis, and hot flashes.

- Reinvigorates: Stimulates the nervous system and boosts circulation once cold is removed.

Combined Hot & Cold Therapy

- Circulatory Boost: The alternating hot (dilate) and cold (constrict) therapy creates a pumping action, significantly enhancing blood and lymph flow.

- Deep Healing: Works into deeper muscles without the intensity of deep tissue massage.

- Versatile Relief: Addresses both deep tension (heat) and acute inflammation (cold) simultaneously.

Common Uses
Chronic pain, fibromyalgia
Stress, anxiety, insomnia
Muscle stiffness, sports injuries, inflammation
