One thing we WISH we’d prepared more for? Food.
Not just for the baby - for us.
Here’s what worked best for keeping us fed, fueled & feeling human:

🍽️ Have a Meal Plan (That Doesn’t Involve You Cooking)
Whether it’s:
✅ Freezer meals
✅ A meal train
✅ Gift cards for takeout
✅ Weekly meal delivery...
..having a plan in place made all the difference.

And let’s not forget...

🥜 SNACKS!!!
In those early weeks postpartum (especially while breastfeeding), the hunger hit HARD. Having easy, grab-and-go snacks on hand was crucial.

Let’s talk about the real postpartum experience - because the first two weeks of breastfeeding can be overwhelming, emotional and full of questions. Here’s what you might encounter:

Milk Supply:
It can take a few days for your milk to fully come in. Colostrum comes first - and that tiny amount is powerful and perfect.

Cluster Feeding:
Baby might feed constantly - especially in the evenings. This is normal and helps establish your supply!

Latch Matters:
A deep, comfortable latch is key. Watch for signs of a poor latch like:
- Blisters or cracked ni***es
- Clicking, smacking, or leaking milk
- Lipstick-shaped ni***es
- Open-mouth breathing or white-coated tongue

Pain & Red Flags:
Some discomfort is normal at first, but sharp pain, bleeding, or signs of mastitis (swelling, fever, flu-like symptoms) are not. Get support ASAP.

Breast Preferences:
Some babies show tension or fussiness with one side - this can signal deeper issues like a muscle imbalance or oral restriction.

Tongue & Lip Ties:
These can impact latch, milk transfer and cause significant pain. Early assessment is key.

Keep a small pillow nearby to hold gently over your incision when coughing, laughing, or getting up. It helps reduce strain and protect the area.

Sheet or Rope Hack:
Tie a sturdy sheet or rope to your bed frame to help pull yourself up without engaging your core too much. Trust me - it’s a game-changer.

Breastfeeding Pillow:
A supportive pillow helps take baby's weight off your incision during feeds and cuddles.

Pain Management:
Most C-section mamas are only offered Tylenol & Advil - especially if breastfeeding. Stay on top of your schedule and don’t wait for pain to sneak up.

Not sure if you're in labour or just feeling Braxton Hicks contractions? You're not alone—this is one of the most common questions late in pregnancy.

Here's how to tell the difference:

1️⃣ Timing:
Braxton Hicks = irregular + fade away
Labour = consistent, regular and closer together

2️⃣ Strength:
Braxton Hicks = uncomfortable
Labour = increasing in intensity

3️⃣ Movement Matters:
Change positions or walk around →
If it stops, it's Braxton Hicks
If it continues, it could be the real deal 👶
