As Black History Month comes to a close, 2026 makes 30 years since the house of commons pass a notion to recognize it annually. Making February 1996 the first year the Canada officially acknowledged black history Month.
Here are a few individuals you should learn more about that have made a significant impact in healthcare, in Canada. Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass, Dr. Alfred Schmitz Shadd and Dr. Onye Nnorom have made a significant impact specifically for Black people in the healthcare system.
Let’s remember that Black History Month is more than just February, but it’s about acknowledging the past and recognizing how far we’ve come and how much further we can go.
