My name is Matheus Mistura and I’m a Clinical Research Coordinator under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Reed at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

We are currently recruiting women living with heart disease for a research study which seeks to compare two exercise training programs on fitness and mental health.

Participants will have health measures taken (such as height, weight, blood pressure, and body composition), undergo exercise tests, and complete questionnaires. They will then be randomly assigned to one of two 12-week virtual exercise training programs (moderate-intensity continuous exercise training group, or high-intensity interval training group). The exercise sessions will be free of charge and conducted virtually.

We hope this study will provide valuable information on the role of physical activity in improving clinical, exercise and mental health outcomes in women with heart disease.

If interested, please contact the research coordinator at mmistura@ottawaheart.ca or 613-696-7000 ext. 15944.

We are wearing red today to support women’s heart health❣️

Heart disease is the number one killer of women worldwide and the leading cause of premature death in women in Canada. Yet, women remain under-studied, under-diagnosed, under-treated and under-aware.
