Congratulations again to La Serata Italiana for winning Best Philanthropic Group at last week's Philanthropy Awards held at the National Arts Center.

This event recognizes individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to our community through their work raising funds and awareness.

For the past 38 years, La Serata Italiana has raised funds to support patient programs and kidney research in our community and they have recently surpassed $1 million in funds raised. This is a significant milestone well worthy of recognition.

Salt is something that is almost impossible to avoid. It can be found at in every restaurant and in most packaged & processed foods. The average Canadian consumes almost double the recommended amount of sodium, which can lead to complications such as kidney disease and hypertension. With the help of students from culinary colleges across Canada, we present to you 'UNSALTED', a salt-free cookbook filled with FLAVOUR-PACKED salt-free recipes aimed at reducing the amount of sodium we consume. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will go towards charities representing chronic illnesses that require sodium-free diets.
