Founder of the Mental Illness Caregivers Association, Paul McIntyre, stopped by the Mix 98.5 booth to explain why MICA is so important. Those living with mental illness and substance use issues rely on stability, often provided by their caregivers. Without that, some people can wind up in precarious situations, hospitalized, or using substances. MICA is working to ensure that those people are still taken care of, when their caregivers are no longer here. Paul also wanted to express his appreciation to National Capital Artisans, for help making sure this event could happen this year. The theme of this year’s Arts in Strathcona Park is “coming together as an inclusive and supportive community.” We invited you to share what those words mean to you, in the comments below! For MICA - it is their commitment to “No One Walks Alone, We Walk With You” and they do so, one project at a time!

Coming together to raise awareness for mental health through a day of art, music and the written word.
The National Capital Artisans (NCA) and the Mental Illness Caregivers Association (MICA) are pleased to announce that Art in Strathcona Park is returning on Saturday, September 6th. While admission to the event is FREE, many of our artists will be promoting their work and selling their original pieces. We encourage our community attending the event to show their support.
Our artists are aligned with local organizations and our community partners that are working hard to combat the stigma associated with mental illness and raise awareness for mental health.
In addition to musicians, writers and artists of original art, many artists will have different types of mediums on display and for sale including jewellery, pottery, stained glass, woodcarvings, hand-made soap and honey. The event will also feature a silent auction, refreshments and a BBQ – rain or shine!
Strathcona Park is located between the Rideau River and Range Road, south of Laurier Avenue East.

Dear Artists and Artisans:

In our previous correspondence, we shared the unfortunate news that our annual Art in Strathcona Park Exhibition and Sale would not be moving forward this year. However, we’re thrilled to now share an exciting update: the in-person event is back on!
We're teaming up with National Capital Artisans who are organizing the event, and we'd love for you to join us as a vendor again. As in the past, we will also feature a BBQ and a Silent Auction. You’re welcome to donate an item to the auction - whether it's artwork, pottery, or something handmade. It's completely optional, but a great way to get some extra exposure and help support the event and MICA.

Art in Strathcona Park will take place at our usual location on Saturday September 6. Please note that registration is different this year - it will be done online starting on June 30th.

Event Details:
Date: Saturday, September 6
Location: Strathcona Park (25 Range Road, next to the Rideau River)
Registration: National Capital Artisans online application form – opens on June 30th
