The key to understanding any laser treatment is knowing what it’s actually targeting.

Lasers and light-based devices work by interacting with something called a chromophore — the part of your skin that absorbs light energy.

There are three main chromophores:
• Melanin – pigment in the skin and hair
• Hemoglobin – blood and blood vessels
• Water – the target for resurfacing and collagen stimulation

The wavelength of the laser determines which chromophore absorbs the energy, and the chromophore determines the results you see.

Knowing this helps you choose the right laser for your skin and your goals.

✨ Did you know how tattoo removal actually works? ✨

When you get a tattoo, ink particles are deposited into the dermis, the layer of skin below the surface. Your body immediately recognizes the ink as a foreign substance and sends immune cells, mainly macrophages, to try to remove it. These cells act like Pac-Man, engulfing the ink and transporting some to the lymph nodes.

The challenge is that tattoo ink is made of extremely small particles—sometimes just 10–200 nanometers—which clump together into aggregates. These aggregates are often too large for the lymphatic system to remove, so they remain in the dermis inside dermal macrophages, which essentially “hide” the ink in your skin.

This is where laser removal comes in. The laser energy targets the pigment, breaking these aggregates into smaller fragments that your body can finally clear away over time. That’s why multiple sessions are needed—the ink is removed gradually, particle by particle.

💡 Interesting fact: Shaded areas of tattoos often fade faster than lines because the ink is typically deposited less densely and shallower in the skin, while lines are deeper and more concentrated.

Every laser session is a controlled disruption of these pigment particles, allowing your immune system to do its job more effectively.

January is such a weird month. gloomy, no sun, work nonstop, everything feels 🫠🫠🫠, and i’m still recovering from surgery. trying to eat as well as i can—salads, protein, whatever actually makes me feel good.

perfume has been saving me lately. music too. little things that shift your mood make a huge difference when everything feels stuck.

i’m trying to exercise as much as i can, but some days energy is low and it’s not easy. after workouts, i notice i get a little swollen still—three weeks post-op, that’s just how it is—but movement still helps me feel human.

eating, moving, smelling good, listening to music, doing what helps. all of this matters more than perfect routines, for skin and for energy..

but at least we’re on the other side of the darkest part. the days are getting longer, and the sun is coming soon. ☀️

Another year around the sun ✨41!!!

This past year was full of growth, learning, love, and moments I will never take for granted.

From training in Vancouver for advanced laser aesthetics, to Las Vegas for laser eyeliner tattoo removal, to road-tripping out east all the way to PEI with my family, each experience stretched me and filled my cup. I got a little refresh in Toronto, sang my heart out at Coldplay, and made memories traveling with the people I love most.

I am endlessly grateful for my family, for a team that supports me fully and believes in the vision, and for my incredible clients who trust me and show up with so much loyalty and kindness.

Being recognized as a Candela Key Opinion Leader was an honour I’m deeply proud of, and one I don’t take lightly.

I feel surrounded by love, support, and purpose. I’m excited for what’s ahead, for everything I’m building, for growing my team, and for all the ideas and projects still unfolding.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has been part of my journey and continues to support me. I truly couldn’t ask for a better life. Feeling grateful, blessed, and ready for this next year 🤍
