Dr. Colleen Wilson-Veterinary Specialist in Animal Behaviour

Dr. Colleen Wilson-Veterinary Specialist in Animal Behaviour Dr. Colleen Wilson BSc., DVM, DACVB Are you feeling frustrated, hopeless and even embarrassed because your pet is difficult to manage?

Specialists, like Dr. Wilson, in veterinary behavioral medicine have the skills and knowledge to take detailed behavioral and medical histories, w**d out irrelevant information, and base the treatment plan on the pertinent behavioral and medical information. It isn't necessarily a training or obedience issue, and that is one of the reasons to choose Dr. Wilson. Dr. Wilson is here to tell you, that there is always hope. Does your dog or cat bite, destroy things or eliminate in your home? Maybe your dog barks incessantly when you're home or only when you're away. Are walks more work than fun or is it hard to have company over? Does your dog chase lights, his tail, lick or spin frequently? Dogs and cats that behave this way can be helped when we address the underlying problems that only a trained behaviour veterinarian can identify, then coach you and your pet to success. Schedule a consult today to find out how to help your pet and save your relationship!

At a craft show this weekend, we saw many dogs with subtle signs of anxiety and fear, like this guy. What's best for your dog? Leaving your dog at home can be an excellent option.

For trainers, celebrating use of shock collars, here's still yet more evidence, as Radio Systems is found to be guilty of false claims that their e-collars are safe and harmless in a $1.9 million class action suit. Shock collars are NOT safe and harmless, as I've been saying for years. Read the court results and my story here in link in comments - and this important to spread the word!

When my patients are anxious and/or aggressive, I also ask: Does your dog eat grass? Eat non-food items (dirt, mulch, leaves)? Guard food, toys, or specific areas? Lick excessively? Have soft stools, gassiness, belching or noisy gut sounds?? These are only some of the behaviours a Veterinary Behaviourist knows to correlate with nausea and intestinal disease. It's about dysbiosis and the gut-brain axis, so tightly tied together. It's not just diarrhea and vomiting anymore. colleenwilsonbehaviourvet.com

Pet behaviours are never ā€œ badā€. Unacceptable for you? Sure! If you don’t prefer a behaviour, saying ā€œnoā€ won’t tell them what you do want. Tell them what you prefer. Mine is ā€œgo to your matā€!

Pet cats are less domesticated than pet dogs. Behaviours that we find annoying are understandable if you know that it often all comes down to the HUNT.

ELS: excessive licking of surfaces. This is a behaviour that indicates nausea. This is a behaviour associated with anxiety. Both need to be addressed together for progress to be made.
