At Nutrition Blocs our vision is to help build a strong, resilient and sustainable food ecosystem that ensures equitable access and improves the health outcomes for everyone in Ottawa Bring focus on food needs of Refugees, Ethnic minorities and Indigenous communities, who face a higher likelihood of food insecurity.

When creativity brings a community together, the impact can reach far beyond the gallery walls.

The Great BIG Smalls Art Show at Cube Gallery is showcasing the work of talented Canadian artists while supporting something just as important. Through this year’s show, 20% of all art sales are being donated to Nutrition Blocs to help address food insecurity among school-aged children.
Now is the time to explore the collection as there is only one week left to support Canadian artists, and make a difference in a child’s life.

🎨 Just as art inspires imagination, colour, and possibility…
A healthy meal gives a child the energy, focus, and hope they need to embrace their day.

Our donors helped Nutrition Blocs grow again in 2025. We delivered more than twice as many summer meals (over 20,000) as in 2023 and increased the number of hot lunches for children living in family shelters. One in four school-aged children in Ottawa starts their day hungry. That’s over 40,000 reasons why we believe so strongly about the work you help us do. Thank you to all our donors who are helping Nutrition Blocs change lives and build better futures for children and families in Ottawa.

When students aren’t in school, they are often left to fend for themselves in the evenings. Nutrition Blocs collaborates with the Vanier Community Centre on the Youth Drop-In program, which helps teens stay active, safe, and supported during critical hours. Nutrition Blocs fuels this program by providing culturally sensitive and nutritious meals, allowing teens to focus on what matters. Being active, safe, and having fun!

Art changes lives, and this month, it will feed kids too
The 21st annual Great Big Smalls art show is officially live and will feature beautiful work by Canadian artists. Cube gallery has generously organized for 20% of sales to be donated to Nutrition Blocs in the fight against food insecurity among Ottawa’s school-aged children.
By purchasing a piece, you are not just buying art, you are putting a hot meal in front of a child who needs it.

At Orkidstra, children learn to build community and confidence through music. With every rehearsal and summer camp, Nutrition Blocs is there, providing a hot and healthy meal. Nutrition Blocs works to support these talented children and youth by providing the fuel they need to learn, and grow strong.

As we celebrate National Child Day, we’re reminded that every child deserves the chance to learn and thrive. Yet 1 in 4 children in Ottawa arrive at school hungry each day.
