How to shop for a walk in tub????
First if you're a senior and live alone, make sure to have someone else in your home with you when the rep comes by if possible
we recommend to get at least 3 quotes if possible
we recommend if possible to go out and see as many tubs as you can because you need to know if you can easily get in and out of the tub, can lock and unlock the door easily and can also use the faucets easily as well as you want to see the construction of the tub
beware of companies that do not have a physical location especially in large cities as this could mean they're not serious about their business, getting space to show off tubs is not complicated
beware of reps that try to keep you from getting other quotes and especially reps that cut down others as opposed to them explaining why their tubs are better..most have no clue about competitors products as they never have dealt with them
also typical sales reps have never installed a tub or worked on a tub so how much can they really know about it...they will tell you what their boss or supplier tell them to say (it's not from personal experience) and if they have worked with other brands , ask to show you proof
Beware of those that cannot answer all your questions over the phone, it means they want to come to your house and likely fill your mind with baloney and good luck trying to get them out if you don't like them
ask as many questions as you wish, honest companies are patient and will gladly answer all your questions
beware of companies with no email address on their website, it could mean they're afraid to put things in writing as they prefer to fill your mind with their baloney once in your home as well as some want to use high pressure sales tactics which is common in this industry
never buy on the spot; do not give in to high pressure tactics ( such as this offer is only good today ) obviously there's something terribly wrong there..these tubs are very expensive....if you want the rep to leave simply ask them, if they refuse please don't hesitate to call the police...note also that coercing a senior into something is against the law...high pressure is abuse especially against a senior
beware of a rep that can not leave you a detailed quote...most expect to sell while in your home and feel if you don't but right away that you won't buy at all...and they might be afraid you'll share your quote with others
it is also difficult to compare the different brand of tubs when you cannot see them( we helped by making a video on our website so please view our video page)
ask the rep to see exactly how the tubs door is secured to the tubs shell ( a picture of the door hinge and on the other side where it secured ) if looking at tubs with outswing doors ask to see the inside on the door to see the type of door latch mechanism...ask to see how the support frame is secured to the tubs shell...and what brand do faucets they have and some have no name brands ( see video on our video page of how our tubs are built)
NOTE that absolutely no tubs are manufactured or even Made in Canada under the Made in Canada guidelines..so don't be fooled by those statements
do not be impressed by CSA certifications, as we deal with CSA certified products we know that they do not do rigorous testing as some claim...CSA does a stress test but does not compare with your tub being filled or drained over a period of 5 years to see if the shell will crack, they do not open and close the tubs door 500 times to make sure it will not come loose over time...etc...its a marketing ploy by those companies ( not by CSA , there's only such much they can test)..they test the tub to make sure its safe to use in your home especially if you have electrical components
Note that this is a very competitive industry and many will make false claims to get your business and we all know seniors are the most vulnerable consumers out there
so take your time and do your research , we've had so many clients complain to us about others and when asked for them to post a complaint online they typically say " we don't want any trouble or they simply don't have the energy " but we can help you if you have a complaint
