She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Carleton University in Ottawa, ON, a Bachelor of social work degree from Mansfield University in PA, USA, and a Diploma in counselling from Ottawa, ON
Yvonne has been working with children, families, youths, and adults for about 15+ years. She brings extensive experience in child and family therapy, including a work placement experience with (CHEO) Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario's children mental health department
Yvonne is dynamic, caring and uses a non-judgmental approach of empathy, collaborative, and validation. She also believes that every child/family will do well if they can, and if not, it means there's something or someone getting in their way. She provides clients with a warm, supportive, respectful and compassionate space where everyone can feel supported in through their journey. Yvonne has worked with a wide range of mental health challenges such as: ADHD, Depression, High conflict divorce, Anxiety, Low self-esteem, School challenges, Sibling rivalry, Bereavement and grief, Trauma base therapy (TF-CBT), OCD, Interpersonal struggles, Self-esteem struggles, Sensory related challenges, Family conflict, Su***de thoughts and ideation, Impulsivity, Sadness, Aggression, and Bullying. She is trained in Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS Empathy approach) Trier 1 & 2, Emotional Focused Therapy, Eating Disorder. DBT, ADHD training, Circle of Security (COS), Autism, TF-CBT Trauma base, Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS), and Nonviolence crisis intervention (NVCI)
Outside of work, Yvonne enjoys hanging out with her children, cooking, visiting parks, watching action and comedy movies, traveling, music and arts. She is also a community coach, and she's has been a guest speaker to many community events to speak about children's mental health, coping strategies, and selfcare for the families providing care.
